Chapter three(3)
In this chapter Fazia tells Abena her story. In her village when a mother gives birth
and the child becomes 4 years old they give the child to their daughters aunty.
She was staying with her aunty and helping her with other stuff. She become best
friends with one of her cousins Asana
Who would show her what she learnt in school when she got back. One day Asana
was told she as going to get married to the richest man in the village and she
didn’t want she cried always trying to convince her family she didn’t want to but
they did not listen. Alhaji the man who was going to marry Asana came back from
Mecca and told them to start the preprations for the marriage. Fazia told Asana
she shouldn’t kill herself she should go to the city and become a kayayei and the
next dawn they could leave. Abena was so engrossed that she didn’t see a
customer was in front of her so she hurriedly cleared the way for the customer to
pass.
Chapter four(4)
When the customer entered Abena hoped that she wouldn’t report them to her
aunty that they were sitting in-front of the door. She didn’t ,she then went on to
pick a material which shined when light reflected on it and that
was Abena’s favorite in the shop she said she was buying it for a wedding coming
up for her daughter. Aunty Lydia ent with her to do some rounds. Abena took the
opportunity to show Fazia the internet and she was amazed. She showed Fazia a
picture of her village and she was memorized that she was able to see her village
again. Fazia thought her how to pronounce some of the places in the village which
was fun for [Link] was surprised how interesting it felt finding out about
new places she thought they would be on youtube drooling over handosme stars.
Chapter five(5)
While Abena and Fazia were watching things on the internet a customer walked in
and Abenapushed away and Fazia pretended to be working .The customer came
in to buy some jewelry’s Abena went for them and sold it to the customer.
After the customer left Abena and Fazia started to try on some of the cloths which
made them look and feel rich. Auntie Lydia almost caught them but started a
conversation with the shop next to hers so Fazia and Abena took the advantage
and escaped. They went to other shops pretending to be customers
having [Link] went to a shop with two handsome boys which they noticed for a
while and seemed to like them and the nicknamed them Peter and Paul. Peter’s
actual name was Stephen and Paul’s Actual name was mike which they later go to
know.
Chapter six(6)
In this chapter Abena and Fazia made a plan which worked perfectly. Auntie Lydia
was also in a good mood which made things go as planned. The next
day Abena heard auntie Lydia talking to the man with the two his sons that he
should send one of them to come for their tv. When he came
in Abena avoided him all she could but Auntie Lydia called her to help him put it
on his head. When she went closer he recognized her and was about to speak
but Abena told him to keep it down. He asked of Fazia and Abena said she wasn’t
around. Later own she went out to look for Fazia and told he that he looked for
her and she said he came and saw her but did not recognize her. Abena felt bad
for her but Fazia understood why he couldn’t recognize her.
Chapter seven(7)
Fazia continues with the story about Asana in this chapter. Asana’s Auntie went to
get Jewelry from her sister’s place and when she got back she was drunk so they
waited a few minutes for her to fall asleep. When she did they went to take her
money which was hidden inside on of her bowls. When they found
it Fazia Friend Rakyia made an owl sound as a singal for her to come so Asana
hugged Fazia and hurried of to join them. The next morning everyone was looking
for Asana and all the other girls who went missing and Fazia played along like she
didn’t know where she was. After two years none of them returned so Fazia asked
her Aunite Asana’s mother weather she could go and look for her in and she gave
her transport money for her to go and look for her. Till date she hasn’t found her
and she told Abena that she would be moving to Kumasi when Abena’s vacation
ends.
Chapter eight (8)
In this chapter Gifty walks in dressed very neatly and used and cheap perfume.
She said it was her birthday day and her mother sent her these cloths as gifts. She
then asked aunty Lydia weather she could go and bring the tv mr Blackson’s shop
just so she could meet the boys. She back with Stephan who decided to go back
with Abena to take the remote and ask about Fazia. When she went she met Mike
they had a little conversation which even led them to inviting the two girls out
and Abena said she would ask Fazia if she would be able to make it. When she
went back Auntie Lydia accused Fazia of stealing 50 cedis from the shop. She went
to call Faziaand told her to get out and run far away. Abena left the shop to go
and look for fazia she couldn’t find her so she returned to the shop very sad and
packed and went home.
Chapter nine(9)
Abena went back home because she wasn’t feeling well. Her father sent her to
the hospital for a blood test and realized she had malaria so he took her home
and gave her some medicine. Two days later she was feeling better and her father
asked her why she is still down. She told him about Fazia and he was happy
that shr was able to make a friend who was from the village because was also
from the village and had to go through a lot before he go here. Later her mom
returned from her trip with her new Abena’s new baby brother Kwesi. She went
back to school on Monday and her teavher asked everyone where they went to,
while thers went abroad Abenatold everyone that she went to Makola and made
a new friend she told them all about it and they were all interested and listening.
The teacher then gave them a homework to go and write an essay about how
their vacation went. Abene wrote hers and name it KAYA GIRL.
Chapter ten(10)
Friday the teacher gave everyone their papers back and Abena Got the highest
mark she showed it to her parents and read it to them and they were very
impressed. Abena told her mother what had happened when she went for the
vacation and was happy that she was able to make a new friend she also told her
mother she knows Fazia did not steal the money and it was probably Gifty and she
used it to buy new cloths for herself. But Abena did not know why she did not
report her because maybe she could be going through something that she doesn’t
know of. That evening Abena took her diary and decided to write every single
thing that happened between her and Fazia. She searched for the meaning
of Fazia which meant
Winner, successful woman and victorious.
Chapter eleven(11)
Five years later Abena is gone to university in Ghana even though her mother
wanted her to go to an outside university her father didn’t want her to become a
foreigner to her own country. When Abena’s parents left she remembered
teaching Fazia about how the sun works and knew that if Fazia had the
opportunity to go to school she would be much better than her at science. Later
on there was a school play of Romeo and Juliet so she went to watch it with a few
of her friends. During the show she realized that Romeo was Mike from
the Makola market and went back stage to meet him she found out his brother
was also in Kumasi in his second year and he was in his last year and about to
graduate. Mike invited Abena to the graduation which she accepted and came
with a few friends who’s older siblings were also graduating. Mike
introduced Abena to his family and she also met Stephan again and he question
her about Fazia.
Chapter twelve(12)
Another five years later Abena is getting married to Mike and her bride’s maid
Bea her roommate when she was in university who she wished it could have
been Fazia. Auntie Lydia who came for the wedding apologized to Abena for
sacking Fazia and found out that Gifty was a thief and was stealing a lot of her
things and chasing boys around. Mike gave Abena Largeplasma Tv as a gift to
tease about the last time they met but Abena was not offended but rather happy.
She was now thinking about telling Stephan about Fazia because even
though her had a girlfriend he always asked about Fazia. She then told him that
she was from the north and lived in Accra for some time. He accepted her
explanation and told her to search for her on facebookbut she told him she never
knew her last name.
Chapter thirteen(13)
In this chapter Abena is having a baby girl and it reminds her of Fazia even though
when she had her baby boy two years ago it reminded her of Fazia to but this
time the girl reminded her more of Fazia. When she woke up she saw Mike and
her mother sitting beside her bed happy that she made it. They told her that her
doctor which was Dr Mohammed who was very calm and stayed with her
throughout the night made it successful for the birth of the child. She tried to get
up to see her child but was too weak. So the next day she was able to walk with
the help of her mother and Mike to see her baby and she was very happy. She
then saw the resemblance between her and Auntie Lydia and knew she would be
happy to hear that. Abena wanted to see DrMohammed the one who helped her
deliver the baby but she was told he was at the theatre.
Chapter fourteen(14)
Abena was finally allowed to carry her baby girl and was left alone with her.
Whiles she carried her child she put her finger inside her tiny palm and stroked he
cheek softly. A doctor then walked in, she asked how the baby was doing
and Abena responded saying “marvelous”. Abenaasked whether she was the
pediatrician and she laughed and said no she hasn’t reached that far, she said she
was a general practitioner and said she is Dr Mohammed. Abena was delighted
and thanked her for saving her and her baby but she said it was good who did the
saving she just operated on them. Abena then said she thought she was a man
then Dr Mohammed replied saying “haba is it only men who can be
doctors” Abena couldn’t believe that it was Fazia. She then went on ad said I
am Abena in twi and she said I am Fazia in dagbanli.
Chapter fifteen(15)
Abena was so happy to see her again and ask her how she knew it was
her. Fazia said when they brought her she didn’t know that she was her patient
but after the operation she heard her muttering, and as she was, she heard her
name Fazia and at the instant new it was her Abena. Abena then apologized for
what happened fifteen years ago and Fazia accepted her apology and told her not
to worry. She later told her Abena that her first science lesson she had with her
really helped her to get to where she is right now.
Chapter sixteen(16)
Fazia then told Abena they day that she last saw her was the day she left for
Kumasi. She searched for Asana until she found her at seamstress shop as an
apprentice. They spoke for some time and Asana gave Fazia some money to go
home and pursue her dream. Fazia went back home to tell Asana’s mother that
she found her and she said she would visit when she felt like she was
ready. Fazia then told Asana’s mother Auntie Fati that she would like to go to
school and she agreed so Fazia went to school and had the best result in her
district she went to secondary school where she also passed and got a scholarship
in America which she went and learned some new things she then came back to
Ghana to learn some other things.
Chapter seventeen(17)
Abena named her daughter Fazia. There was a part organized for the new born
baby and many other reunions. Fazia came in and everyone clapped and hugged
her she was then introduced to everyone in Mike’s famil and the last person was
Steve she then hard a long conversation with. Abena went upstairs to bring
little Fazia down for everyone to see her. Auntie Lydia came to carry her and said
that she can have Fazia name but she has her face with a smile. Everyone
gathered around happy and little Fazia made her first ever sound which was a
giggle.
CHAPTER eighteen(18)
Auntie Lydia send Fazia and Abena back to her shop to give them gifts. She
gave Abena a nice kente dress which she thanked auntie Lydia for it. Auntie Lydia
then gave Fazia and nice dress and she hugged auntie Lydia and thanked her. The
went to Auntie Omolo shop which was next to Auntie Lydia’s shop she wrapped a
cloth around their heads and dressed them very beautifully. Auntie Omolo made
a statement that she wished he could be dressing them for an occasion
and Abena asked Fazia when she would get married and have kids but Fazia said
she wasn’t ready to but when the right time comes she would. They then went to
sit in-front of Auntie Lydia’s shop like they did fifteen years ago
and Abena showed fazia her essay she wrote about her and she loved
it. Fazia asked Abena whether she was done with t but Abena said no and that
their friendship hasn’t ended so there is more to write about.
