Review the Developmental Theories and their implications
Student Diversity
1. What bring about diversity any individuals
Diversity meaning the uniqueness or differences of an Individual. These differences could be self-
evident, such as national origin, age, race and ethnicity, religion/belief, gender, marital status and
socioeconomic status or they could be more inherent, such as educational background, training,
sector experience, organizational tenure, even personality, such as introverts and extroverts.
2. Is diversity of any advantage to learners? Why?
Yes, for a reason that when working and learning with people from a variety of backgrounds and
cultures present in the classroom, students gain a more comprehensive understanding of the
subject matter. It also teaches students how to use their own strengths and points of view to
contribute in a diverse working environment.
3. As a teacher how will you handle student diversity?
As a teacher, I’ll handle my students by recognizing any biases or stereotypes we may have
absorbed. Treating each learner as an individual, and respecting each learner for whom he or she
is. Avoiding use of language that is biased and undermines certain groups of learners. I can also
act as a facilitator and encourage conversation and healthy debate between diverse opinions
that will make them recognize their own strength and will have more self awareness.
4. What is your learning style? Describe yourself.
My manners of processing information is absorbing the lesson better when I work with my hands
while listening. I also prefer to write when memorizing and analyzing information.
5. Are you global or analytic in nature? Why?
Both, for that reason as a global learner I sometimes develop strong self-evaluation and self-
criticism, are open to the widest range of ideas and concepts, and distinguish bias from truth. At
the same time I primarily interested in acquiring new and accurate facts that lead to my
understanding of concepts and processes. I learn by thinking through my experiences, judging
the accuracy of what I encounter, and examining details.
Multiple Intelligences
6. Is the theory of Multiple Intelligences congruent with Intelligence
Quotient (I.Q.) Why?
Yes, for that reason Multiple intelligences refers to a theory describing the different ways
students learn and acquire information. These multiple intelligences range from the use of
words, numbers, pictures and music, to the importance of social interactions, introspection,
physical movement and being in tune with nature. On the other hand IQ, or intelligence quotient
A number representing a person’s reasoning ability. In conclusion they both describe and
represent the quality of the person.
7. Which of the intelligences do you possess? Describe yourself.
Verbal/linguistic, Intrapersonal, Naturalist, Existential. I learn through spoken and written,
observing, analyzing and questioning, and learn through values and attitudes.
8. Why is it important for you as a teacher to know the learning style and
multiple intelligences of your learners?
As a teacher it is crucial to know the learning style and multiple intelligences of my students or
learners in able to provide a better strategies or methods in terms of teaching. As knowing how
to handle them with my improvised methods will also help them improved and learn effectively.
Learners with Exceptionalities
9. Describe exceptional
learners.
An exceptional learner is an individual who, because of uniqueness in sensory, physical,
neurological, temperamental, or intellectual capacity and/or in the nature or range of previous
experience, requires an adaptation of the regular school program in order to maximize his or her
functioning level.
10. Differentiate disability from handicap
Disability is a functional limitation with regard to a particular activity; and handicap refers to a
disadvantage in filling a role in life relative to a peer group, or physical or mental condition that
makes ordinary activities more difficult than they are for other people
11.Which of the learners exceptionalities is most difficult to deal with?
Explain.
learning disability, for the reason that it has to do with the way someone's brain
works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things. It’ll be
difficult to teach them as a teacher because of their way of comprehension in so
many things. Having this kind of exceptionalities is quite challenging for them
because it can reduced their intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday
activities – for example household tasks, socializing or managing money – which
affects them for their whole life.
12.Is a genius normal or abnormal? Why?
Genius is normal, they might be unique, highly intelligent, and creative but a normal person.
They have exceptional problem-solving skills: Geniuses tend to be very good at solving complex
problems, often with innovative and creative solutions. They have a high level of adaptability:
Geniuses tend to be very adaptable and flexible, able to adjust to new situations and challenges
quickly and effectively but they are still a normal people.
13.How should learners with exceptionalities be treated?
Develop an individualized education plan to ensure that a child with an identified disability
receives specialized instruction.
