bushings, and fasteners. It is suitable for industries such as automotive, aerospace, and general
manufacturing, where consistent quality and efficiency are critical.
MODES IN CNC MACHINES
MANUAL DATA INPUT (MDI):
Manual Data Input (MDI) mode allows the operator to directly input G-code commands into the CNC
machine's control system without relying on pre-prepared programs. This mode is typically used for
simple, one-off operations or quick adjustments during machining processes.
Features:

➢ Operators can manually enter specific G-codes for immediate execution.

➢ Useful for simple tasks like positioning the tool, running test cuts, or performing single-step
operations.
➢ Provides flexibility for real-time corrections or modifications to machining operations.

Applications:
MDI mode is ideal for quick setups, minor adjustments, and testing machining parameters without the
need for creating or uploading a full program.
AUTOMATIC MODE IN CNC MACHINES:
Automatic mode enables the CNC machine to execute a complete machining process using a pre-
programmed G-code file. This mode is designed for efficiency, consistency, and automation of complex
operations.
Features:

➢ The machine follows the programmed sequence of operations without manual intervention.

➢ Ensures high precision and repeatability for large-scale or complex machining tasks.
➢ Can be integrated with CAM software for advanced program generation.

Applications:
Automatic mode is widely used for mass production, intricate machining, and tasks requiring consistent
quality. It is the primary mode for industries focusing on high-volume manufacturing or intricate part
production.
CONCLUSION:
In this lab, we gained hands-on experience with the MV-1060 CNC milling machine and the ML-300
CNC lathe, observing their precision and versatility in performing various machining tasks. The
exploration of operational modes, such as MDI and Auto Mode, demonstrated how these systems
enhance flexibility and efficiency in machining processes. Through these activities, we developed a
deeper understanding of CNC programming and the integral role of these machines in modern
manufacturing workflows.
