 Appointment scheduling
 Manage medication dispensing
 Facilitate communication between doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers
 Public health reporting

 Information systems are used by healthcare professionals for making informed decisions aboutpatient care

3D Printers
What is a 3D printer?
 A 3D printer is a machine capable of outputting three-dimensional objects from a digital file

 3D printing starts with the creation of a 3D model using computer aided design (CAD)

 The benefits of 3D printing include:

Bio-Inks
 very complex process and
3D models can be fully customised on the computer before printing
requires input from biologists,
 Prototyping medical engineers, physicists
and other engineers.
3D printers in medicine
 Custom-made prosthetic limbs or body parts
Printing of prosthetics  Can be tailored to a patient’s specific needs
 Faster and more affordable than traditional methods

 3D printing of living cells to crate functional tissues

Tissue engineering  Can be used to repair or replace damaged organs
 Potential to reduce the need for organ donations

 3D printed blood vessels made of biodegradable materials

Artificial blood vessels  Can be used in surgeries to replace damaged vessels
 Allows for improved blood flow and faster healing

 3D printed pills with precise doses and drug combinations

Customised medicines  Tailored to a patient’s specific needs and conditions
 Potential to improve medication adherence and effectiveness
