These words are called “ADJECTIVES.”
Who can recall what an adjective is?
That’s correct! Everybody let us read together.
Adjectives are describing words. They describe persons,
place, or things. In short, they describe nouns. They also
describe pronouns.
Since you already know what an adjective is. Today, we are
going to learn about “DEGREES OF ADJECTIVES”
(POSITIVE, COMPARATIVE, AND SUPERLATIVE)

Let’s talk about the Three Degrees of Adjectives.

1. Positive Degree – shows no comparison.
Example:
The strawberry is big.

2. Comparative Degree – is used to compare two nouns or
pronouns.
we add – er to the adjective to show comparison. The
word “than” is placed after the adjective.
Example: fast - faster
A cheetah is faster than a horse.
tall - taller
The giraffe is taller than the tree.
Add the word “more” before adjectives with two or more
syllables.
Example: beautiful - more beautiful
Ariel is more beautiful than Fiona.

3. Superlative Degree – is used to compare more than two
nouns or pronouns.
We add – est to the adjective to show comparison. The
word “the” is placed before the superlative adjective.

Mt. Apo is the highest mountain
in the Phillipines.
tall - tallest

more syllables.
