INVESTITURE CEREMONY
LEADER: “We are partnered together to welcome to our Girl Scout Sisterhood the following new
members of Troop (Calls the name of new girls). If we would show these girls the true path of
scouting, we must remind ourselves that honor is sacred and that it is upon this that our
promise is built. As Scouts let us prepare ourselves to receive these girls.
ALL SING: “GIRL SCOUT TOGETHER”
Girl Scouts together that is our song
Winding the old trails rocky and long
Learning our motto living our creed
Girl Scouts together in every good deed.
Girl Scouts together, happy are we,
Friendly to neighbors far o’er the sea;
Faithful to country, loyal to home,
Known as true Girl Scouts, wherever we roam. (2x)
LEADER: “Before taking your promise, I ask you to listen once again to the promise and Law,
appreciating as you do so, what these words are mean to you and today on.
(Starting with the first law, each girl in her turn leaves her place, goes to the Co-Leader, as her candle
lighted, return to her place, then says the law which she represents.)
CO-LEADER: “Each candle flame shed the brilliance of Scout Law. May their glow so light your way that at
no turn of the will you stumble.
(The next girl, then goes to have her candle lighted. She recites the promise distinctly for the
benefit of the new member) each patrol leader in turn brings forward candidates of her
patrol so that they stand facing the leader).
GIRLS: “YES’’.
(Each girl repeats the promise as the leader pins the World Pin on her uniform while the
troop sings
ALL SING: “When e’re you make a promise, consider well its importance, and when we made, Engrave it
upon your heart. (As this being sung girls holding candles place them on trefoil stand or rack):
LEADER: (As the girls receives the pin) with this pin I welcome you into the Troop _________ of
__________ and through this troop into the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. May you always be
proud to be a member of this troop, and may Troop________ always be proud to have you as
a member.
LEADER: “After all have received the pins). You have now taken your first step along the Girl Scout
Trail, a trail which never really ends. There are many interesting adventures awaiting you as
you continue your badgework. If your trefoil and your honor are kept shining as brightly as
the flame of these candles, they will guide you to the right path and enlighten you in all you
do.
