 Created solution to problem of inadequate automation of heart rate variability test analysis.
PRODUCT
 Architected and developed EKG app to automate analysis of autonomic influence on heart during exercise.
App takes patient EKG time series as input, performs analyses, and provides a GUI that plots time series
data along with the results of algorithms for interpreting cardiovascular events within the time series data.

Impedance Cardiography (ICG) App (2009-2011)


PROBLEM & SOLUTION
 Created solution to problem of non-existent tools to analyze mechanical activity of heart during exercise
PRODUCT
 Architected data acquisition and analysis plans, including detailed specifications for custom python app.
 Architected and developed an app that analyzed the acquired time series data. App did the following:
o Divide 240 million sample time series data into segments that can be analyzed using a digital filter that
removes noise that is not correlated with the frequency of each heartbeat.
o Calculate variables from time segments, including amount of blood ejected from heart in each
heartbeat (stroke volume), and amount of blood ejected from heart each minute (cardiac output).
o Summarize tabular and graphical data across time periods to show how each variable responded to
rest, then increasingly intense exercise, and finally post-exercise recovery.
o Assemble formatted data from patients and then perform statistical analyses of data.
TRAINING & DOCUMENTATION
 Used JIRA to plan and manage agile development. Wrote 100 page master’s thesis.
 Also acted as product manager, guiding all aspects of product realization.
