Does any general pattern emerge?


When comparing my list of attractive criminal justice careers, one trend becomes

obvious. The roles often correlate with service professions that employ teamwork, problem

solving as well as require the professionals to interact directly with the public. These jobs reflect

a balance between analytical abilities and energy, and it was noted that these positions involve a

lot of tough challenges and require proactive work in an effort to solve them. Additionally, they

may require proactive and responsive and responsive skills to adapt to dynamic situations. Most

of these roles cater to people who place importance on a cognitive aspect and physical

preparedness, which serve as prerequisites for proper management of tasks in the field.

Are the jobs you listed more in the service field or academic fields?
Many of the positions I identified are in the service industry, something that aligns with

the main mission of criminal justice. The occupations in this area are not as focused on academic

knowledge as they are on practical actions; they are all about active involvement. While there is

some need for academic learning, like the concepts of law, or the methods of investigation, the

goal is more proficiency in practice and utility for the public. This service orientation focuses on

individual and organizational moral standards, and a consideration of the balance of fairness and

equity.

Do the jobs stress physical skills? Mental ability? Both equally?


The jobs I am interested in are the ones that require use of the body as well as the brain.

For instance, the job of a policeman entails physical abilities or stamina and also logical thinking

abilities. As described in the textbook, there are jobs that are offered under “stress tests”, which

denote one’s health to determine whether or not the uniqueness of the position would warrant his

or her need to work the various criminal justice positions.

Do they stress working with people or alone? Indoors or out?


These positions emphasize on working with people and in different settings. Such jobs as

policing involve working outside and constantly coming into contact with the community which

to me is interesting.

Why do you think you picked these jobs?


I took these positions because of my desire to make a difference through service to the

community. The skills demanded in these positions including resiliency, teamwork and

professionalism are dear to me. The expectation that entail a criminal just career, such as a back

ground, education, and fitness are also laudable in my endeavor to build the same.
