Ideas Description

1. Waste Plastic Utilization in Roads:

Description of Idea: The use of plastic waste in road construction is an innovative

alternative that not only reduces plastic waste but also increases the sustainability and

durability of roads. This process recycles plastic waste as a valuable resource, contributing to

the development of sustainable infrastructure.

Research Description:

Using waste plastic in building roads is an excellent solution to the handling of plastic waste

and at the same time increasing the life of roads. When shredded waste plastic is added to

asphalt mixes, it works to modify the binder, enabling the road to strengthen its standing

against damage, water, and temperature changes. This new method not only helps the

environment by reducing plastic waste but also saves maintenance costs and enables the

roads to last longer.

The typical mix involves the addition of 6-10% shredded plastic to the bitumen while it's

being heated. This melts the plastic, covering the stones to provide a strong bond. Asphalt

with plastic in it has more strength, flexibility, and resistance to change than regular asphalt.

This technique has worked well in several countries, proving that it really can change road

building by helping the environment and reducing plastic waste simultaneously.

2. Modular building components for rapid assembly

Description of Idea: It offers quick, efficient, and flexible solutions to construction projects

with its modular parts ready to be assembled. It's fast and easy: a house is constructed on-site
from prefabricated parts. The generation of waste during construction is very minimal, and

changes in the design are easily incorporated into this system.

Research Description: The innovation in construction that allows the rapid assembly of

modularized building components with accuracy and efficiency is a process whereby

prefabricated units are produced in controlled locations to provide quality and reduce on-site

work. They can be easily assembled on the construction site once delivered, enabling projects

to be finished much quicker. It not only reduces disturbances but also enhances safety by

decreasing the time workers spend at the construction site.

From homes to commercial buildings and large infrastructure projects, modular components

prove useful due to their flexibility. Each module is specifically designed to be connected to

other modules easily; therefore, adding certain changes per specific project needs does not

present any problem. Besides, the modular way helps the environment by creating less waste

and easily being taken apart for reusing or recycling. It's revolutionizing the way construction

happens with a faster, more effective, and greener alternative to old construction techniques.

3. Portable solar-powered water purification system

Description of Idea: This portable solar-powered water purifier is really cool to get clean

drinking water in places that are rather far away or hit by disasters. The kind of equipment

purifies the water with the help of solar energy from various sources to make sure you have

safe drinking water without regular power.

Research Description: It is a portable solar-powered, compact, and sustainable water

purification system. It is ingeniously designed to provide pure drinking water in regions

where reliable access is a problem. The system utilizes the power of the sun to energize a

filtration unit that can remove all harmful contaminants, from bacteria and viruses to

chemicals. This sustainable technology is most useful in areas remote or affected by disasters,
where electricity and infrastructure are rarely available. It increases the safe water supply by

using renewable energy and hence reduces the chances of waterborne diseases, improving the

health in the community.

This means you can take this system with you anywhere—in emergency response, outdoor

adventures, humanitarian work you name it. The system is light, easy to handle, almost

maintenance-free, and works without any additional power supply. Such an innovative

solution not only resolves a serious issue of access to clean water but also enhances

sustainable behavior, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and archaic water purification

methodologies.
