Diversity in the Workplaces and Importance of the Diversity
According to (Servaes et al 2022) The diversity can be described asThe Oxford English
Dictionary, “diversity” is defined as “the practice or quality of including or involving people
from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual
orientations, etc.” Because technology has helped to make the world more accessible, and with
travel and immigration (Mostly when there is no barriers to that such as the covid pandemic),
people are no longer working or living in the same [Link] with different people and
working with them become a common theme for most people. WIth these differences and
diversities we embrace many more methods to solving problems that we face today
According to my research, the diversity of the workplace mostly benefits the employees.
Because there are several factors that contribute to this, first of all diversity of the people with
different backgrounds. According to Quinetta M. (2019) Canada, Europe and Usa ,especially
after the invention of cheap transportation, are the top 3 countries that get immigrants. So these
countries have a larger diversity compared to other parts of the world. The people in these
countries are working with people from different parts of the world which means different
cultures and geography. Both of these things seriously affect how a person sees life and what
they are expecting from it. These would bring a lot of things to the workplace. Most important
factor is the difference in culture. What this brings is that people from different parts of the world

have different perspectives and beliefs. Which is a very good thing for the workplace where we
have diversity means that we have more than one idea. This means that people from different
parts of the world have different perspectives on the same problem due to their beliefs and
culture. This provides us with many more solutions to the same problem and many more
perspectives to the problem.
One of the other benefits to employees is that when we get to recognize people from different
parts of the globe we get to socialize more. This contributes to many things. Just like I mentioned
before it gives us different perspectives but there is another thing. We get to learn different
things from different people and their culture. This grants us many beneficial skills such as
complex thinking and thinking outside of the box. Kim (2006)
To achieve true diversity, organizations must make strategies to attract, involve, and retain
diverse people. Creating a diverse team initially starts with an inclusive recruitment process.
Companies need to increase the number of jobs they assign to different locations and
departments, which requires different levels of [Link] a more careful approach to the HR
teams, select individuals who got the jobs can assign by their skills to needed parts of the
company . In addition to that, partnerships with groups serving non or underrepresented
communities can create opportunities for more people to participate in the recruitment process.
Those help to ensure that people selected equally and fairly by their skills
Fair approaches in the workplace makes it equality at all levels of employment . Companies
should establish clear policies that guarantee equality of opportunity in terms of recruitment,

promotion and compensation. Providing training and leadership development programs designed
to support non- or underrepresented groups can promote gender equality and growth in the
workplace. By preventing inequality inside the workplace , Workplace creates an environment
where everyone has the opportunity become successful
A diverse organization goes beyond hiring to create an inclusive work culture where everyone is
heard, valued and listened to. So that employees at different levels can connect with each other,
share information, and support each other and create better work. Organizing cultural events for
everyone to participate in, celebrating certain holidays of different cultures, and creating
membership counseling strategies can help improve a sense of belonging to the company and to
the workplace they are working on . Which is a very important thing if we want diversity in our

Ensuring and maintaining diversity requires constant monitoring and adaptation. Organizations
should regularly analyze various criterias, such as the number of the sales and regularly make
employee satisfaction surveys, to identify areas that needed to be improved and worked [Link]
in that process transparency about the results is the key. A approach which is based on datas
allows companies to meet customer needs Fionnuala (2003). Becoming a diverse workplace has
its own challenges that you need to face which some companies are doing better than others such
as Walmart would be a great example for that because in 2021 Walmart scored %100 in the 2021
Disability Equality Index and Corporate Equality Index for the sixth consecutive year. In 2022,
Walmart ranked #26 in DiversityInc’s top 50 US companies’ diversity list.

Thank you for asking my opinion on how to get a more diverse company. My approach to this
topic is that we need to change our HR department and make them approach the applicants
differently. We need to choose them fairly and make them get the jobs at their skill level and
kind. One of the other topic that we can hire people from other countries while creating remote
jobs for them. This would be beneficial to our future plan of growing our company in many more
markets. Other people from other countries would also creates us much larger customer base to
