REFLECTION
PEM ELEC 1
On May 17, 2024, The BPED and BEED organization was organized an event about the
'Empowering Tomorrow's Educators: A Fusion of Movement and Mind.' This event was aim to
blend physical movement and intellectual engagement to enhance the skills and creativity of
future educators. On this event, they explained the importance of Lesson Plan in the teaching
field. I learned here that a lesson plans are not just about ticking boxes; they are designed to
make you a more effective teacher and create a successful learning environment for your
students. I also learned that inside a seminar, I can also adapt or use the learning that we acquired
in our subject PEM ELEC 2 which is all about the administration and management. As a future
educator, I recognize the crucial yet often nature of educational training. While seminars equip us
with pedagogical knowledge and instructional techniques, administration and management
subjects often present a separate set of skills. Our administration and management courses
frequently rely on lectures and rote memorization, which can feel detached from the daily realities
of the classroom. The interactive nature of this seminars allows us for more engaging learning
experience. By presenting case studies, real-world scenarios, and guest speakers from schools,
participants can actively explore issues like budgeting, scheduling, and student discipline. This
collaborative environment fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt
best practices to our specific contexts.
I noticed that in our seminar we can use the different strategies on how to manage a group of
people. Like for example, The foundation of a successful seminar is clearly defined learning
objectives. I will collaborate with participants to identify specific areas they want to explore. This
ensures the discussions remain focused and address their specific needs. Second is by Setting
clear ground rules at the outset promotes a respectful and inclusive environment. Emphasis on
active listening, participation, and constructive criticism establishes a platform for meaningful
exchange. Third is maintaining a clear timeline ensures all learning objectives are addressed
without rushing. I will be prepared to adapt the schedule slightly based on the flow of discussion,
but staying within the time allotted. Lastly is we must remember that the most important things in
a seminar setting is to create an environment in which people feel part of the same community.
I’ll also build in some more opportunities for participants to engage with each other and create a
shared online space to enable participants to access handouts from the seminar and carry on
conversations after it's all over.
In conclusion, what I have learned on this seminar is by infusing our subject administration and
management, I will be able to develop seminars that attract educators of the future who can learn
from each other, exchange best practices and establish critical reasoning skills to achieve great
results in the diverse educational setting. Ultimately, the end goal is not simply to teach what we
need to know and expect an outcome but rather to build a community of lifelong learners that will
be able to lead from wherever they are at in their schools.
