AUDIOSCRIPT
Poor Annie. It was a terrible night for her. I was at
a tennis club party. Well, not a real party – we were
having a big dinner together, about fifteen of us. It
was good. I was sitting opposite Annie. We were
talking about her family. She’s got two daughters.
One, Sasha, is at university studying economics
and the other, Greta, is just sixteen and she’s still
at school. She’s a good tennis player and I’ve met
her several times. A nice girl. Anyway, suddenly
Annie’s phone rang. I knew something was wrong
because her face went white. It was the police.
They were at her house. When Annie left the
house to come to the tennis club, Greta sent a
message on the Internet to some of her friends and
invited them round to her house for a small party.
Then Greta had a shock. About a hundred people
arrived. They learned about the party on the
Internet. They drank alcohol, broke things and
made a terrible mess in the house. Greta tried to
make them leave the house but they refused to go.
She had to call the police. The police say that this
sometimes happens. There are people who check
the Internet to learn about parties and then they tell
their friends and they go to the address. It’s a big
problem. I took Annie home and she cried when
she saw the house. Her best plates and glasses
were broken and there was food all over the walls.
The carpets were wet and dirty. It was terrible. Of
course, Greta was crying too. But it’s an important
lesson. If you’re having a party, don’t put the
information on the Internet. It’s too easy for the
wrong people to find it.
