Chapter 9: Light – Reflection and Refraction

 Mirror formula, (f is focal length, u is image distance and u is object distance)

 Angle of incidence = angle of reflection
 Magnification [mirror] = -v/u = height of image/ height of object

 Lens formula 1/v - 1/u = 1/f

 Magnification [mirror] = +v/u = height of image/ height of object
 Power of a lens, P = 1/f
 Absolute refractive index = n = c/v [c is the speed of light in vacuum and v is the speed of light in
medium]
 Snell’s formula = n = sin i/ sin r
 Combine the power of two or more lenses, P[final] = P(1) + P (2) + P(n)
Chapter 10: Human eye and the colourful world
 Corrective lens for myopia, f = -x and P = 1/f = 1/-x
Let a person can see clearly up to ‘x’
(x and f are IN METRES)

 Corrective lens for hypermetropia,

 P = 1/f = 4 – 1/y
y = minimum distance at which a
person can see clearly
(y and f are IN METRES)
Chapter 11: Electricity
 I = Q/t
 V = IR, V = W/Q
 R = V/I, R = ρl / A ( l = length, A = Area )
 P = VI, P = VV/ R, P = IIR
 H = IIRT, H = VIt
 Series, Req = R1 + R2 + R3 +….
 Parallel, 1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 +….
