Objectives

• Remove the covers of the gantry and couch.
• Locate all serviceable components in the gantry, couch and console.

Introduction
In this lab, the covers will be removed from the gantry, couch, and console to allow the student to locate system
parts.
The covers will remain off until the last day of the course when they should be replaced.
Procedure Preview
In this lab exercise, the learner will:
• Remove the gantry covers, patient table covers
• Identify gantry, patient table and console components
Special Instructions/Precautions
Make sure you read and understand the Safety Guidelines before proceed with the lab assignments.
<CAUTION:
Damage to the equipment and personnel can occur if you are not careful. If you do not know the outcome of a
motion before initiating, DON’T DO IT! Please seek help from the instructor if unsure.>
Instructions
1. Remove the gantry and patient table covers according to correct CT system Gantry Repair and Replacement
Manual.
1. Gantry left and right side covers
2. Gantry front cover
i. Make sure the couch table top is all the way out from the gantry before removing the front cover.
3. Couch top side covers, bottom cover, and side baffles.
ii. Patient table should be in UP position for easy cover removal (for vertical movable table).

4. Gantry rear cover and slip ring cover
i. Turn off ALL power, use the multi meter to measure and check to make sure all the power is
gone before removing the slip ring cover
WARNING: Do not remove the Slip Ring cover unless the TEAL is switched OFF! Be
sure to remove ALL power to the system before removing covers!
