PC DATA RECORDING SOFTWARE HANDBOOK

This software is used for collecting the data from the Navigational Echo Sounder FE-800 and
FE-700. The software is capable of storing and outputting dual frequency data, and when connect-
ed to a FE-800 unit the software can also store and output echograms.
The interconnection between the software installation PC and the FE-700/FE-800 is shown in the
figure below.

As shown in the figure, this software can only record data from the FE-700 via a serial connection
and from the FE-800 via a LAN connection.

1. INSTALLATION

1.1 How to Install the Program

System requirements
This software runs under Windows 7® and Windows 8®.
A minimum of 1GB RAM is recommended.
Procedure
1. Insert the CD-ROM supplied with the DATA RECORDING SOFTWARE FOR PC into your
CD/DVD drive.
2. Double click the CD-ROM drive icon to view the files on the CD-ROM.
3. Double click the DATA RECORDING SOFTWARE FOR PC icon to start the installer.

Follow the instructions on the screen to install the software.

Once the installation is complete, store the CD-ROM in a safe place.

1.2 How to Start the Program

1. Click the Windows icon button at the bottom left of the screen to open the START menu.
2. Move the mouse pointer to the PROGRAMS option in the START menu to open the
PROGRAMS menu.
3. Move the mouse pointer to FURUNO, then click the FE-800 DATA RECORDING SYSTEM
icon to open the application.

The software will display the following screen for three seconds after startup.

1.3 How to set Serial and LAN ports
To connect your PC with the software installed, you must set the port
(LAN or serial) to which the equipment is connected.
Select [Option] from the menu bar, then click [Use port] to open the [Link]
pop-up window shown right. 11000

Serial ports
1. Click the SIO radio box to activate the Serial Port drop-down box.
2. From the Serial Port drop-down box, select the serial port on the PC
to which the equipment is connected.
3. Click OK.

Lan Ports
1. Click the LAN radio box to activate the IP Address and Port No. fields.
2. Enter the IP address and port number as shown below:
IP address: [Link]
Port: 11000
3. Set the PC IP address to [Link].
NOTE: If the network connection cannot be made using the above IP address and port settings, check
the FE-800 Installer Manual and confirm the IP addresses.

2. HOW TO USE THE SOFTWARE
NOTE: Opening the system menu screen during the download will cancel any download in progress.

2.1 Downloading Real-time Data

To download real-time data (data recorded at one second intervals) from the FE-700 or FE-800,
press the Start utility button on the toolbar. You may also select [Start] from the [Download]
menu on the menu bar, or press F9 on your keyboard. The downloaded data is displayed in one
second intervals in the log (LOG mode), in a graph (GRAPH mode) or as echoes (ECHO mode).
See the examples below for reference.
Data is saved in the following location: “C:\Users\Public\FURUNO\FE800”.
NOTE: Echo mode is only available on the FE-800 via LAN connection.

How to change modes

To change modes, press the , or display mode button as appropriate.
You can also change modes from the [MODE] menu on the menu bar, or press the F7 key to
switch to LOG DATA mode, or press the F8 key to switch to GRAPH mode. There is no shortcut
key for ECHO mode.

How to inscribe lines

To inscribe a line at points of interest in the readings, click the MARK utility button . You can
also inscribe a line from the [Option] menu by selecting [Mark], or press the F1 key.

How to stop the download

To stop the download at any time, press the Stop utility button . You can also stop the download
from the [Download] menu by selecting [Stop], or pressing the F10 key.

2.2 How to Download RAM Data
Data accumulated in the RAM of the FE-700 or FE-800 can be downloaded in two methods:
• One hour of data, in one second intervals
• 24 hours of data, in five second intervals
To download the data stored in the RAM, do the following:
1. Click [Download] on the menu bar.
2. Move the cursor over [Loading Option] in the [Download] drop-down menu.
3. Select [1h Data] or [24h Data] as appropriate. A download dialog box similar to the one shown
below appears.

The download can be stopped at any time by clicking the [Cancel] button on the download
dialog box.
Downloaded data will be saved in one of two file formats, as shown below.

In the above examples “20131220” is the date on which the data was downloaded, “1h” is the
method in which the data was downloaded. The date is shown in the following format:
“year(4digits), month(2digits), day(2digits)”
NOTE: The data which is downloaded via Serial connection or LAN connection is different. See the
table below for details.

On completion, the message “Download Complete” is shown in a pop-up window. Press the OK
button to close the window.

2.3 Setting Options
To access and set options, select [Option] on the menu bar, then click [Option] in the drop-down
menu. The [Option] window has two tabs, [File] and [Graphic].
To adjust settings as required, click the radio button or the up/down arrow button as appropriate.

File tab settings

File Saving Create new files at 00:00 Creates a new file each day at 00:00 hours.
The files will have the same naming format
as shown in section 2.2 “How to download
RAM data”.
Create a new file at specific Creates a new file each day for the specified
time period (1h - 24h) time period only. When the recording period

information is stored. For example, period is
set to “2 hours”, but recording continues for

Graphic tab settings

Scale 5m, 10m, 20m, 40m, 100m, Sets the view scale for the GRAPH and ECHO

Pixels 1, 2, 5, 10 Pixels Sets the amount of pixels by which the graph
moves horizontally during real-time sampling.
Mode Solid Sets the GRAPH display to a solid line (bar).
Line (Wide) Sets the GRAPH display to a wide line.
Line (Narrow) Sets the GRAPH display to a narrow line.
Line Mark On/Off Turn Line Mark utility On or Off.
Display Priority Fore/Aft Sets the display priority for [BOTH] on the
[GRAPH] tab. The option chosen as priority will
be displayed at the top of the screen.
Color* Line Color(Fore) - Gray, Changes color of bottom echo lines for Fore
Red, Yellow, Black readings.
Line Color(Aft) - Same col- Changes color of bottom echo lines for Aft
ors as Fore readings.
Back Color - Black, White Changes background color of GRAPH and
ECHO modes.
Set Depth On(*.*m)/Off Set to [Off] for no limit. [On] only displays the
readings shallower than the set depth.
Color Table Amber, Black, Blue, White Sets the color theme for the ECHO mode.
*: Line color for FORE/AFT cannot be set to the same color.

2.4 How to Open Files
There are two methods for opening files: Using the [Open...] option from the [File] menu, or using
the [Time Selection] option in the [File] menu.

Using the [Open...] option to open a file

Select [Open...] from the [File] menu, or click the [File Open] icon to open the file selection
window. The standard windows [Open File] dialog box appears. Select the file you wish to open,
then click the [Open] button at the bottom right of the window. The window shown below appears.

Select the appropriate format, then click the [OK] button.

Using the [Time Selection] option to open a file

To read data from specified start date/time to end date/time and display it on the text or graphic
screen, select [File] - [Time Selection] from the menu bar. The [Time Selection] dialog box (shown
below) appears. Enter start date/time and end date/time, then click the [OK] button. You can
display the time selection data on the text screen or graphic screen.
NOTE: Using this method, the 1h-data file ([Link]/dat2), 24h-data file ([Link]/dat2)
and [Link]/dat2 can not be opened.)

The longest available time frame is 11 hours and 59 minutes. In the above example, the maximum
time frame has been chosen. 2013/12/20 05:01 to 2013/12/20 17:00.

2.5 How to Save Files
Data can be saved with any name in Excel format. Select [File] - [Save as CSV-file] from the menu
bar, or click the [Save as CSV-file] button . The standard Windows [Save as] dialog box
appears. Type a file name, select the location to save and click the [OK] button.

2.6 How to Print Files

The software can output data to a connected printer. Select [File] - [Print] from the menu bar, then
select one of the following items, depending on your needs.
Print Log Data : Prints LOG mode data. Log data can also be printed using the Print
Log Data utility button .
Graph (Hardcopy) : Prints GRAPH mode data. Graph mode data can also be printed us-
ing the Print Graph (Hardcopy) utility button .
Echo (Hardcopy) : Prints ECHO mode data. Echo mode data can also be printed using
the Print Echo (Hardcopy) utility button .
Graph (All Data) : Compresses all graph data into one printed page. Compressed
graph mode data can also be printed using the Print Graph (All
Data) utility button .

NOTE: The software does not support Microsoft XPS Document Writer.

2.7 How to Display the Program Version

The program version is displayed for a short period when the software starts a new session. You
can also display the version from the Menu bar. Select [About] - [Version] to display the program
version.

Select [File] - [Program Exit] from the menu bar, or left click the button on the top right of the
program window.

3. ERROR MESSAGES
Below is a list of error messages that may be appear, together with their meanings and possible
remedies.

[Graphic] タ ブの設定

[Files] タ ブの設定

Echo Data Saving On/Off On：エコーデータを保存します。
Off：FE-800 からダウンロードしているデータ
は画面に表示されますが、パソコンのハード
ディスクには保存されません。
Time Interval 1 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec, 30 sec, 1min, 設定 し た時間間隔で、 デー タ を ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド し
5 min, 10 min, 15 min, 30min, 60 ます （1 秒、 5 秒、 10 秒、 30 秒、 1 分、 5 分、
min 10 分、 15 分、 30 分、 60 分）。
Auto Printing Log ロ グモー ド のデー タ が 60 行毎に、 自動的に印
刷 さ れます。
Graphic グ ラ フ モー ド のデー タ が 1 ページ毎に、 自動的
に印刷 さ れます。
Off 印刷は実行 さ れません。

ダウン ロー ド を中止する
次のいずれかの方法で、FE-700 または FE-800 からのダウンロードを中止することができま
す。
･ ツールバー上の Stop ボ タ ン （ ） を ク リ ッ ク す る 。
･ メ ニ ュ ーバーの [Download] か ら [Stop] を ク リ ッ ク す る 。
･ キーボー ド 上の [F10] キーを押す。

2.2 RAM デー タ を ダウン ロー ド する

FE-700 ま たは FE-800 内部の RAM に記録 さ れてい る デー タ を、 ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド す る こ と がで き
ます。
･ 1 秒間隔で 1 時間分のデー タ
･ 5 秒間隔で 24 時間分のデー タ
1. メ ニ ュ ーバーの [Download] から 、 [Loading Option] を ク リ ッ ク し ます。
2. [1h Data] ま たは [24h Data] を ク リ ッ ク し ます。
以下のように“Now downloading”というメッセージとともに、データの取り込み具合を示す
バーグラフが表示されます。

注）ダウンロードを中止するときは [Cancel]、[Yes] の順にクリックしてください。

3. ダウ ン ロー ド が完了する と 、 “Download Completed!” と い う メ ッ セージが表示 さ れるので、 [OK] ボ
タ ン を ク リ ッ ク し ます。
注 1）ダウンロードされたデータは、以下のファイル形式で保存されます。同じ時間間隔で、1 日に
2 回以上データをダウンロードする場合、古いデータが上書きされます。
･ シ リ アル接続の場合 ： 20131220_1h.dat
･ LAN 接続の場合 ： 20131220_1h.dat2
上記の よ う に、 ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド し たデー タ は、 ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド を開始 し た と き の日付が フ ァ イ ル名
と な り 、 保存 さ れます。 た と えば、 2013 年 12 月 20 日にダ ウ ン ロ ー ド し た場合、 シ リ アル接続
で 1 時間分の フ ァ イ ルには、 “20131220_1h.dat” と い う よ う な名前が付れ ら れます。
注 2）下表のように、シリアル接続と LAN 接続でダウンロードできるデータの種類が異なります。

2.3 オプ シ ョ ン項目を設定する
リ アル タ イ ムデー タ を ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド す る 際の設定、 グ ラ フ モー ド の表示方法の設定は、 [Option]
メ ニ ュ ーで行い ます。
メ ニ ュ ーバーの [Option] か ら ド ロ ッ プダ ウ ン メ ニ ュ ーの [Option] を ク リ ッ ク し ます。 [Files] と
[Graphic] の タ ブが表示 さ れます。 設定す る タ ブを選びます。
設定を変え る と き は、 適切な ラ ジオボ タ ン を選択 し て く だ さ い。 設定後、 [Ok] ボ タ ン を ク リ ッ
ク す る と 、 ダ イ ア ロ グ ボ ッ ク ス は閉 じ ます。

2. ソ フ ト ウ ェ アの使い方
収録デー タ を ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド 中に本 ソ フ ト ウ ェ アの メ ニ ュ ーを開 く と 、 ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド が中断 さ れ
ます。

2.1 デー タ を ダウン ロー ド する
FE-700 ま たは FE-800 か ら リ アル タ イ ムデー タ を ダ ウ ン ロ ー ド す る には、 次の 3 通 り の方法が
あ り ます。
･ ツールバー上の Start ボ タ ン （ ） を ク リ ッ ク す る 。
･ メ ニ ュ ーバーの [Download] か ら [Start] を ク リ ッ ク す る 。
･ キーボー ド 上の [F9] キーを押す る 。
デー タ は本機 （FE-700 ま たは FE-800） で設定 さ れてい る 画像送 り の速度に応 じ てダ ウ ン ロ ー
ド さ れ、 下図の よ う に ロ グデー タ モー ド 、 グ ラ フ モー ド ま たはエ コ ーモー ド で表示す る こ と が
で き ます。
収録 し たデー タ は、 C:¥Program Files¥FURUNO¥FE800¥ に保存 さ れます。

注）エコーモードは LAN 接続（FE-800 用）したときのみ利用できます。

モー ド を切 り 替え る
モードを切り替えるには、次の 3 通りの方法があります。

･ ボ タ ン、 ボ タ ン ま たは ボ タ ン を ク リ ッ ク する。
･ メ ニ ュ ーバーの [Mode] か ら [Log Data]、 [Graph] ま たは [Echo] を ク リ ッ ク す る 。
･ キーボー ド 上の [F7](Log Data)、 ま たは [F8](Graph) キーを押す。
エ コ ーモー ド 用に割 り 当て ら れた フ ァ ン ク シ ョ ン キーはあ り ません。

マー ク ( 標示線 ) の描画
マーク（標示線）を描画するには、次の 3 通りの方法があります。

･ ツールバー上の Mark ボ タ ン （ ） を ク リ ッ クする。

･ メ ニ ュ ーバーの [Option] か ら [Mark] を ク リ ッ ク す る 。
･ キーボー ド 上の [F1] キーを押す。
グ ラ フ モー ド では、 マー ク の描画を実行 し た位置に、 標示線 （緑） を描かせ る こ と がで き ます。
ロ グモー ド ではデー タ の欄に 「M」 の文字が入 り ます。

1.3 シ リ アルポー ト または LAN ポー ト を設定する
イ ン ス ト ール し た ソ フ ト ウ ェ ア と パ ソ コ ン を接続す る ために、 シ リ アルポー ト ま たは LAN ポー
ト を設定 し ます。
ソ フ ト ウ ェ アの メ ニ ュ ーバーか ら [Option] を選び、 [Use port] を ク
リ ッ ク し て く だ さ い。 右図の ウ ィ ン ド ウ が表示 さ れます。
シ リ アルポー ト （FE-700 用）
[Link]

1. [Serial Port] を有効にする ために、 [SIO] の ラ ジオボ タ ン を選びます。 11000

2. [Serial Port] の ド ロ ッ プ ダウ ンボ ッ ク スか ら、 FE-700 が接続 さ れてい

るパ ソ コ ンのシ リ アルポー ト を選びます。
3. [OK] を ク リ ッ ク し ます。
LAN ポー ト （FE-800 用）
1. [IP Address] お よび [Port No.] を有効にする ために、 [LAN] の ラ ジオボ タ ン を選びます。
2. [IP Address] お よび [Port No.] に、 以下情報を入力 し ます。 [Source-ID] は、 工場出荷時設定値を 使用
し ます。
[IP Address]：「[Link]」
[Port No.]：「11000」
3. パ ソ コ ンの IP ア ド レ ス を 「[Link]」 に設定 し ます。
注）上記設定で収録ソフトが使用きない場合は、FE-800 で設定されている IP アドレスを確認して、
収録ソフトおよびパソコンの IP アドレスを再設定してください。FE-800 の IP アドレスは、装
備要領書または以下の表で確認できます。

シ ス テムの必要条件
パ ソ コ ン用デー タ 収録 ソ フ ト ウ ェ アは、 以下の環境で動作 し ます。
･ OS ： Windows 7®/Windows 8®
･ メ モ リ ー ： 1GB 以上推奨

手順
1. デー タ 記録 ソ フ ト OP12-2 で支給 さ れる D-ROM を CD ド ラ イ ブに挿入 し ます。
2. [ マ イ コ ン ピ ュ ー タ ] ア イ コ ン を ダ ブル ク リ ッ ク し ます。
3. CD-ROM ド ラ イ ブのア イ コ ン を ダ ブル ク リ ッ ク し ます。

4. 「FE800 DATA RECORDING [Link]」 ア イ コ ン を ダ ブル ク リ ッ ク し ます。

インストールが開始されます。
5. 画面に表示 さ れる指示に従います。
データ収録プログラムは、既定の設定の場合 C:¥Program Files¥FURUNO¥FE800¥ にインストー
ルされます。
CD-ROM は大切に保管しておいてください。

1. パ ソ コ ン上で下図のよ う に、 「FE800 DATA RECORDING SYSTEM」 ア イ コ ン を ク リ ッ ク し ます。
