IELTS Study Plan
IELTS Study plan works as a clear plan of action that you can use before
you kick start your IELTS preparation. It helps you understand the
milestones you must hit every week during your preparation journey and
sets you off on the right track.
Typically your IELTS test prep can take anywhere between 1.5-3 months
or more, depending on your current English language proficiency. Given
below is a tried and tested IELTS Study Plan that can be customized to the
number of months/days left for your exam date.
This is a blueprint of what your week-to-week preparation should look like.
Feel free to cram or relax the flow of tasks based on the number of days
you have before the test. As a template, the following study plan is
designed for six weeks where you are required to give a minimum of 1
hour every day. If you have, say, three weeks before your test date,
double the number of hours to 10-14 per week, and so on.
*The status column of the plan needs to be checked off every time you
finish a task. Also, 5 is the minimum number of IELTS practice tests
you should ideally take. You can increase this number as per your test
prep, but make sure to space these mock tests to give yourself time to
prepare and analyze the results to identify and rework problematic
question types.
Week - 1
PRO TIP: Nothing can tell you more about the exam in three hours than
an entire mock test. So, start by taking an IELTS mock test; we suggest
the free official Cambridge Practice Test.

IELTS Preparation Tips
The best way to prepare for IELTS indeed depends on the number of days
left for your exam. In either case, here are a few tips to make the best of
your IELTS preparation-
I. Read a lot from books, journals, magazines, and newspapers
II. Learn to read long texts fast and the art of skimming and
scanning.
III. Consume content where you get to listen to native
English speakers talk daily.
IV. Practice writing essays on different topics of around 300 words
(When you do this regularly, your writing significantly improves).
V. Learn to analyze and write based on charts, tables, or diagrams
from practice questions and mock tests.
VI. Practice speaking in English on familiar topics, voice modulation,
and clarity.
