Devotion to mother
Bayazid Bostami was a small boy. His mother was ill. One night the entire village was in deep sleep. He
was studying by the side of the bed of his ailing mother. But all on a sudden, his mother woke upraised
her head and told her son to give her a glass of water. Bayazid went to the kitchen to bring water but he
found no water there. He looked for water everywhere in the house. He was so much devoted to his
mother and loved her very dearly. He felt great pity for his thirsty mother. As a result, he went to a
distant fountain to fetch water. But the nearby water hole was far away from the home. He took the
pitcher and started walking to the water hole. Reaching to the hole he filled the pitcher and returned
home as early as possible. He came back with water and found his mother asleep. He did not wake her.
He thought awakening his mother may sour up her illness. Holding a glass of water in a hand, he is still
beside his mother’s bed. He was waiting for his mother’s waking. But she was sound asleep. When it was
dawn Bayazid’s mother woke up and instantly discovered her son standing beside her bed with a glass of
water in hand. At first, she could not understand anything. She wondered for a moment. Then she could
realize the fact. She could not control her tears. She embraced her son with deep love and blessed him
from the core of her heart. The mother impressed with his son’s devotion to her and blessed him from
the core of her heart. Then she remembered and embraced her son with deep love. She earnestly
prayed to Allah to bless her son with the highest honor in spiritual life. Allah granted her prayer and
Bayazid became a great saint in his later life.
Two Rats and the Monkey Story
One day, two rats found a soft piece of bread in a house. They were excited but had a problem—they
couldn’t agree on how to divide it equally. Both rats wanted the bigger piece, and neither was willing to
compromise. They started arguing and even fought over the bread.Since they couldn’t solve the
problem on their own, they decided to ask a monkey for help. The monkey was known as the wisest and
cleverest animal in the forest, so the rats thought he would be fair. They asked the monkey to divide the
bread equally between them. The monkey agreed and promised to help. But instead of dividing the
bread equally, the monkey cut one piece bigger than the other. To fix this, the monkey took a bite from
the bigger piece, but then the other piece became larger. So, he took a bite from another one too. The
monkey kept doing this—taking small bites from both sides to make them equal. As the monkey ate
more and more, the bread kept getting smaller. The two rats soon realized what was happening. They
had trusted the monkey, but now they were losing all their bread. The rats asked the monkey to stop
and give them whatever was left. But the monkey, being clever and greedy, told them that the rest of
the bread was his payment for dividing it.

Once upon a time there lived some boys in a small village. There was a pond in the end of their village.
One day they were playing at the edge of a pond in which lived a family of frogs . The boys amused
themselves by throwing stones into the pond so as to make them skip on top of the water. They were
very happy to doing these types of naughtiness. The stones were flying solid and fast and the boys were
enjoying themselves very much; but the poor frogs in the pond were trembling with fear. Some of them
already died with this hard stone. At last one of the frogs, the youngest and bravest, put his head out of
the water, and said, “Oh my dear friends please stop your ruthless play! Though it may be fun for you, it
means death to us!” What is the play to one is death to another.
A Black sheep spoils the whole flock
A rich man had a son who was naughty and careless. He had joined a bad company and his father tried
his best to set him right by advising him but all in vain. All the punishment and advice has not effect on
the boy. He did not abandon the company of bad boys. His father thought of many ways to make his son
realize of his bad ways but could not do so. At last he decided to teach him the impact of bad company
through a practical example. One day he brought a basket of apples. The boy wanted to have them. The
father promised to give him all the apples next day. In the mean time, he gave the boy a rotten apple
and asked him to place it amidst the good ones. The son did so.Next day the father asked him the get
the basket of apples. But he found them all rotten in the basket. The father said to him, “Just as a single
rotten apple has spoiled all the good ones, similarly bad company spoils the good boys. If you want to
stay good, leave the bad company.” The son got the point and gave up the company of bad boys. Thus
we can understand how a black sheep infects the whole flock.
Wisdom of King Solomon
There was a king named Solomon. He was a very wise king, everybody knew about his wisdom. So, many
people asked him different questions. He answered their entire question perfectly. So King Solomon was
called “Solomon, the wise”. Once Queen of Sheba, hearing the name and fame of Solomon, decided to
test his wisdom. The Queen went to Solomon’s court. She took with her two garlands- one of real roses
and the other of artificial roses. But both of the garlands looked quite alike. The Queen placed them on
the table and said, “Oh wise king, please look at the garlands. Tell me, which one is of real
roses.”Solomon thought for some time. It was very difficult to identify the real rose. Just then he saw
some bees humming outside the window. The King seemed to be unable to identify and just when the
Queen thought she had defeated the King. King Solomon told his men to open the window. Then the
bees came in and sat on the garland of real flowers. The king then pointed to that garland. The Queen of
Sheba was greatly charmed at his wisdom. She was surprised and she went admiring the king’s wisdom.
She said, “May God grant you long life. You are really Solomon the Wise”
A Liar Shepherd
Once there was a liar shepherd who tended his sheep by the side of a deep forest. To enjoy himself and
to be fool the people he shouted, “Tiger, tiger, please help me.” People would come running to help
him. Then the shepherd would begin to laugh and say that he only played with them. Being disgusted
the people would go back. Though the shepherd was a great liar. Many a time the shepherd did this
trick. He enjoyed himself making fun with people. The villagers lost their faith in the shepherd. One day
a tiger came and tore him to pieces. This time the shepherd cried out for help, but none came to help.
He tried up the tree but failed. The tiger attacked very swiftly and killed him. When the people found
him as a dead body, they had nothing to do. I think that sometimes we create tragedy in our life. The
same thing happened in the shepherd’s life. If he didn’t tell a lie shouting ‘Tiger.’ People would come
running and perhaps he might avoid the danger. So, we should not tell a lie even for making fun.
Who will bell the cat
Once upon a time, there was a big store owned by a merchant in a small town. The store held grains, oil,
fruit, bread and other edible items required by the people in the town. Just like what happens in all
stores, a large colony of mice lived under the store. Every day, the mice would raid the store, steal the
food supplies, and leave behind a mess for the merchant to clean up. The merchant got tired and
decided to bring a cat to the store to take care of the rodent problem. The merchant bought a grown
plump cat for the store and allowed her to stay inside the store to keep the mice away. The cat was a
skilled predator that quickly got to work and killed many mice. The mice colony would take casualties
daily as the fat cat would consume a few of its members. The merchant saw that the mice problem was
quickly resolved, and he was happy with his decision to bring a cat.Seeing the rising number of mice
eaten by the cat every day, the mice colony decided to hold a meeting in their burrow. Every mouse was
worried that their friend or relative had gone missing recently, and that they could not take food
because of the fear of being eaten alive. Being a skilled hunter, the cat would sneak up quietly and eat
any mice caught off guard. Many mice were also afraid of going back to the store as they didn’t want to
be eaten.
As all the mice were discussing their woes, the elder mice decided on a plan to fix the problem. They
came up with the idea to bell the cat so everybody would be alerted by the jingle if the cat was in the
vicinity. All the mice were delighted by the idea, except there was one problem. Nobody knew who
would take up the task of belling the cat. Considering the life-threatening risk involved in the operation,
no mice volunteers came forward. Thus the question remains ,"Who will bell the cat"?
Tit For Tat
Once there were a crane and a fox. They were good friends. Once the fox invited the crane to dine with
him on the following day. The crane gladly accepted the invitation. On the following day the crane went
to dine with the fox. The cunning fox had prepared nothing but soup. He placed this soup in a flat dish.
The fox asked the crane to begin eating. The crane could not eat the soup from the flat dish with long
beak. He stood by while the fox was eating easily with his tongue. “Why are you not eating at all,
friend?” said the cunning fox. The crane said nothing and was inwardly shocked. He understood the fox’s
mischief. However, before he left, he invited the fox to dine with him in his house. He prepared a good
dinner. He put the foods in two pitchers with long and narrow necks. The fox came at the fixed time. The
crane placed two pitchers on the mat. Then he asked the fox to begin eating. The poor fox looked blank
while the crane was eating to his heart’s content with the help of his long neck. The fox’s mouth
watered at the smell of the food. But alas! he could eat nothing. He understood how the crane took
revenge on him. He went back as hungry as he had been. The lesson of the story goes like this “Tit for
tat.”
