Section A (1 mark each)
1. Find the value of k if x - 2 is a factor of x^3 - 3x^2 + kx - 6.
2. Write the nature of roots of the equation 2x^2 - 3x + 5 = 0.
3. Find the distance between the points A(3,4) and B(7,1).
4. Find the sum of zeros of the polynomial 2x^2 - 5x + 3.
5. Write the first term and common difference of the A.P. 3, 7, 11, 15, ...
6. Find the median of the data: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.
Section B (2 marks each)
7. Find the roots of the quadratic equation x^2 - 7x + 10 = 0 using factorization.
8. Find the HCF of 48 and 72 using the Euclidean algorithm.
9. Solve for x: (2x+3)/4 - (x-2)/3 = 5/2.
10. Find the coordinates of the centroid of the triangle whose vertices are A(2,3), B(4,5), C(6,7).
11. The sum of four consecutive odd numbers is 64. Find the numbers.
12. Find the probability of getting a sum of 7 when two dice are rolled together.
Section C (3 marks each)
13. Find the roots of the equation 2x^2 - 5x - 3 = 0 using the quadratic formula.
14. The sum of the first 15 terms of an A.P. is 120. If the first term is 3, find the common difference.
15. Find the mode of the data: 10, 15, 20, 15, 25, 30, 15, 20, 25.
16. The difference of squares of two numbers is 180. The square of the smaller number is 8 times the larger
number. Find the numbers.
17. Prove that the square root of 5 is irrational.
18. A bag contains 6 red balls and 4 blue balls. A ball is drawn at random. Find the probability that it is: (a)
Red (b) Not blue.
19. Find the equation of a line passing through the point (2,3) and parallel to 3x - 4y + 5 = 0.
20. Find the area of a triangle whose sides are 7 cm, 24 cm, and 25 cm.
21. Find the sum of the first 10 terms of the series 5, 10, 15, 20, ...
22. Find the coordinates of the point that divides the line joining (2,3) and (8,7) in the ratio 2:3 internally.
Section D (4 marks each)
23. Solve the pair of linear equations: 2x + 3y = 12 and 5x - 2y = 4.
24. A well of diameter 14 m is dug 10 m deep. Find: (a) The volume of earth dug out. (b) The cost of
plastering the inner surface at Rs. 12 per m².
25. The following table gives the marks scored by 40 students in a class test. Find the mean using the direct
method.

26. Draw a pair of tangents to a circle of radius 5 cm from a point 12 cm away from its center.
27. Construct a triangle similar to a given triangle with a scale factor of 3/4.
28. Find the height of a tower if the shadow of a 1.5 m tall pole is 3 m long and the shadow of the tower is 24
m long.
29. The difference between the outer and inner surface areas of a hollow sphere is 352 cm². If the radii of the
outer and inner spheres are 7 cm and 6 cm, find the volume of the material used.
30. The following distribution represents the daily income of 50 workers in a factory. Find the median income.
