GPR8802x

The Calix GigaPro® GPR8802x is a next generation intelligent, managed switch supporting a variety small form-
factor pluggable (SFP) modules as a fully integrated system. The GPR8802x provides a high capacity 802.3bt
PoE PSE power budget that allows up to eight high power PoE devices (PDs) to be connected. Flexible LAN
interface configurations enable a wide variety of multi-tenant and business applications, including the latest
generation of Unlimited Subscriber Wi-Fi PoE wireless gateways and satellites. The GPR8802x is managed by
the Calix SMx management connector as part of an end-to-end PON or Active Ethernet (AE) solution.

MULTI-TENANT APPLICATIONS
The GPR8802x supports flexible configuration to support multi-tenant unit (MTU) and multi- dwelling unit
(MDU) applications that deliver Layer 2 Internet access and voice service per subscriber. As a multi-port ONT,
the GPR8802x can be configured such that each Ethernet port is dedicated to a single residential or business
subscriber. Each Ethernet port connects to the subscriber’s residential gateway router or business firewall.

Multi-tenant per-subscriber capabilities supported by the GPR8802x include port-independent bandwidth

profiles, IPTV multicast profiles and IGMP-based multicast video, N:1* and 1:1 service VLAN assignment,
DHCP snooping Option 82 Circuit ID insertion with ONT port identification. Layer 2 security configuration to
mitigate broadcast and DDoS attacks, prevent IP and MAC spoofing, and protect against common deployment
mishaps (e.g., router connected backwards to the ONT LAN port) are all supported on a per-port basis.

SMALL BUSINESS APPLICATIONS

The GPR8802x can be deployed in two core service configurations for small businesses.

UNLIMITED SUBSCRIBER SMALL BUSINESS SOLUTION

The GPR8802x can be combined with a Calix GigaSpire system operating with SmallBizIQ to
create a managed small business solution that includes:

• Wired and wireless LAN with customized SSID networks for the business, staff, and customers
• Integrated firewall router and content filtering
• LTE/5G cellular failover
• Analog and POE-powered VoIP service

The GigaSpire Wi-Fi 6 and 6E Unlimited Subscriber portfolio includes indoor desktop and POE wall mount
systems, as well as hardened PoE-powered outdoor systems to extend Wi-Fi to outdoor dining areas and
workspaces. GigaSpire systems have fixed GE and 2.5 GE WAN ports or SFP+ WAN interfaces supporting
GPON, XGS- PON, and Active Ethernet. All GigaSpire gateways and Wi-Fi meshes are PCI-compliant as
transit systems for Point-of-Sale systems.

The Unlimited Subscriber Small Business Solution is fully managed by Calix Cloud or AXOS SMx, simplifying
installation, security, management, and customer support.

LAYER 2 BUSINESS INTERNET ACCESS AND VOICE

The GPR8802x is deployed for a single business subscriber, with a single Ethernet port connected to the
business firewall router using GE, 2.5GE, or 10GE interfaces. The SFP+ LAN port can be used to connect to
business routers using optical connections – a configuration often preferred by the business IT manager.

Voice services to the business can be provided using the analog voice ports or the Ethernet ports. A business
often has a need for multiple voice ports for the business, as well as fire and elevator alarm circuits.
Alternatively, the GE ports on the GPR8802x can be used to provide a hosted PBX service to the business. In
this case, the GE ports are configured in a separate VLAN from the business internet access and directly
connected to VoIP phones.
