Good morning everyone,

I’m Abdushukur Wabela, and I’m pleased to present my final year research project titled "Assessment of
Organizational Structures of Raya Brewery and Development of New Organizational Structures and Its
Implementation Guidelines." Guided by Dr. Haileluel Mamo, this study focuses on improving the
structure of BGI Ethiopia to enhance efficiency, communication, and adaptability.

Currently, BGI Ethiopia operates under a functional organizational structure. While it provides clear roles
and specialization, it also causes delays in decision-making and limits collaboration between
departments. Through a SWOT analysis, I identified these challenges and proposed a hybrid
organizational model that combines functional, divisional, and matrix elements to promote flexibility
and innovation.

In this presentation, I will walk you through the key findings and practical steps for implementing the

Presentation Opening Speech

Good [morning/afternoon], everyone. Thank you all for being here. My name is Abdushukur
Wabela, and today, I am honored to present the findings of my research titled “Assessment of
Organizational Structures of Raya Brewery and Development of New Organizational Structures
and Its Implementation Guidelines”. This study was conducted under the supervision of Dr.
Haileluel Mamo at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Raya University.

The focus of my research is on evaluating the existing functional organizational structure of


Raya Brewery, a major part of BGI Ethiopia, and proposing a more flexible and responsive
hybrid organizational model. BGI Ethiopia is a leading beverage producer, yet, like many large
firms with functional structures, it faces challenges such as slow decision-making, poor cross-
departmental communication, and limited adaptability to fast-changing market demands.

Through a detailed SWOT analysis, data collection from employees at all levels, and
benchmarking against modern organizational theories, this study identifies the limitations of the
current structure and develops a new hybrid model that blends functional, divisional, and matrix
systems. The goal is to enhance collaboration, speed up innovation, and improve decision-
making across the company.

My presentation will walk you through the methodology used, the analysis performed, and
finally, the proposed structural reforms and their step-by-step implementation guidelines. These
recommendations aim not only to increase the efficiency of operations but also to empower
employees and foster sustainable growth at BGI Ethiopia.
