Q1. For the circuit shown, find VCE and VAG

Consider the two battery circuits of Fig. separately. Current in the 20 V

battery circuit ABCD is 20 (6 + 5 + 9) = 1A. Similarly, current in the 40 V
battery circuit EFGH is = 40/(5 + 8 + 7) = 2A. Voltage drops over different
resistors can be found by using Ohm’s law.

The positive sign shows that point A is at a positive potential of 30 V with

respect to point G.
Q2. An electrical device consumes of 15 A / 220 V, what is the total cost if
we operate this device 30 minute daily in 15 days, where the price is 2
Fills.

Q3. How much resistance is required to limit the current from a

12 V battery to 3.6 mA?

1. 3.3 kΩ
2. 33 kΩ
3. 2.2 kΩ
4. 22 kΩ

Answer: A. 3.3 kΩ

Solution

According to ohm’s law, the current flowing through the

element is directly proportional to the potential difference
across it.

I∝V

>I∝V

I=VR

>I=V/R

Given current I = 3.6 mA

Voltage V = 12 V

Resistance (R) = 123.6×10−3=3.33 kΩ

>12/(3.6×10-3) = 3.33 kΩ

Q4. Power factor of a Lamp may is lagging or leadings or unity, so give the
correct answer.
Unity
Q5. In AC circuit we have:
a. Apparent power is more than Actual power
b. Reactive power more than actual power
c. Actual power more than reactive power
d. None of these
Q6. Find Current flowing through 1Ω resistor by using
superposition theorem.
Q7. From circuit below find Is where Vo = 40V, by using voltage division
law.

Solutions:
Q8. If R1 = 2Ω, R2 = 4Ω, R3 = 6Ω, determine the electric current flows in the
circuit below.

Resistor 1 (R1) = 2Ω

Resistor 2 (R2) = 4Ω

Resistor 3 (R3) = 6Ω

Source of emf 1 (E1) = 9V

Source of emf 2 (E2) = 3V

From Kirchhoff’s law, we arrive at the equation,

– I R1 + E1 – I R2 – I R3 – E2 = 0

–2I+9–4I–6I–3=0

– 12 I + 6 = 0

– 12 I = – 6

I = -6 / -12

I = 0.5

Thus, current flowing through the circuit is 0.5 A.

Q9. Find the instantaneous value of the sine value at 90⁰ point having an
amplitude 10V and time period 360⁰.
a) 5
b) 10
c) 15
d) 20
View Answer
Answer: b
Explanation: The equation for sine wave A is v(t) = 10sinωt. The value at
90⁰ in this wave is v (t) = 10sin90⁰ = 10V.

Q10. What is the true power of RL circuit in parallel with AC source of

60V, where R = 20 Ω, and inductive is 1600 Ω.
Answer: 180 Watts
