INTRODUCTION
Gibbs Reflective Cycle is a model used to structure and guide the process of reflection in a
portfolio or other learning context. It helps learners engage in deep, meaningful reflection based
on their experiences and learning.
DESCRIPTION: What happened? Keep it relevant, to the point, necessary background
information
FEELINGS: What were you feeling during the situation? What emotions came up?
EVALUATION: What went well? / What could have been improved? It includes overall
significance or impact of the event.
ANALYSIS: What was the factor contributed? Is it part of a pattern? What was the
context?
CONCLUSION: What would you change? What lessons have you learned?
ACTION PLAN: What steps will you take next? Do others factors need to change too?

ENTRY 01. VERBAL, NON-VERBAL, WRITTEN AND ELECTRONIC
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
TITLE
Focusing on types and process of communication
OBJECTIVE
Demonstrate communication skills
DESCRIPTION
The first lecture on Perl, presented by Sir Naveed, was an introduction to a key concept or tool
relevant to our studies. This session aimed to provide foundational insights into Perl’s
applications and its role in our coursework.
Purpose: Mam Rimsha’s goal was to clarify Perl’s role and functionality, ensuring that all
students understood its importance and usage.
Communication Types: Effective communication was crucial, involving verbal, non-verbal,
written, and electronic methods to convey complex ideas and facilitate student understanding.
EVIDENCE
During the lecture, Mam Rimsha demonstrated various communication skills:
Verbal Communication: She articulated the purpose and applications of Perl clearly,
breaking down its concepts into understandable segments. Her explanations were
supported by examples to illustrate its practical use.
Non-Verbal Communication: Mam Rimsha used positive body language, including eye
contact and encouraging gestures, to engage students and foster a supportive learning
environment.
Written Communication: Key points and concepts were written on the whiteboard for
visual reinforcement. Additionally, handouts were provided to summarize the session’s
content, aiding in student review and comprehension.
Electronic Communication: Mam Rimsha directed us to online resources and the
course’s digital platform for further exploration. This included links to additional reading
materials and interactive tools to deepen our understanding of Perl’s applications.
3
REFLECTION
Reflecting on the lecture, it was clear how Sir Naveed’s communication strategies enhanced our
understanding of Perl’s role:
Impact on Learning: The clear verbal explanations, combined with visual aids and written
summaries, made complex concepts more accessible. Mam Rimsha’s non-verbal communication
helped create a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged questions and engagement.
Student Participation: Despite the supportive environment, there were moments when some
students, including myself, hesitated to ask questions due to uncertainty about the new material.
This highlighted the need for a learning environment where all students feel comfortable
participating and expressing their doubts.
SELF-ASSESMENT
In evaluating my participation and communication during the lecture:
Strengths: I actively engaged by asking questions and taking notes, which aided my
understanding of Perl’s role. My verbal communication was clear, helping me seek clarification
on complex points. I also explored the electronic resources provided, which supported my
learning.
Areas for Improvement: I realized that I could enhance my non-verbal communication by
providing more feedback through gestures or eye contact. Additionally, while I used the
4
electronic resources, I could be more active in online discussions and forums to better integrate
and apply the concepts learned.
