Reflection Note – LAC Session
KRA 4: Professional Growth and Development
Objective 12: Reviewed regularly personal teaching practice using existing laws and
regulations that apply to the teaching profession and the responsibilities specified in the
Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers
Participating in our recent LAC (Learning Action Cell) session was a meaningful experience
that allowed me to revisit and reflect on my role as an educator, especially in light of the
existing laws and regulations governing our profession. The session focused on the
importance of aligning our daily teaching practices with the Code of Ethics for Professional
Teachers and the legal responsibilities outlined in national policies, such as the Magna Carta
for Public School Teachers, RA 10533 (Enhanced Basic Education Act), and DepEd Orders
and Memoranda.
During the session, we were reminded that being a teacher is not just about delivering
lessons, but about upholding the dignity and integrity of the teaching profession. I became
more aware of how each action—inside and outside the classroom—should reflect
professionalism, fairness, and compassion, as mandated by the Code of Ethics. This includes
treating learners with respect, being fair in assessments, collaborating positively with
colleagues, and maintaining a strong commitment to the community we serve.
The session also helped me understand the value of regularly reviewing and updating my
teaching practices. I realized that even long-established routines must be checked against
current policies to ensure they remain relevant and compliant. For example, I assessed how
I handle student behavior and communicate with parents, making sure that my approach
promotes inclusivity and respects learners' rights. I also reviewed my use of teaching
materials and learning activities to confirm that they are developmentally appropriate and
aligned with the curriculum standards.
Moreover, the discussions encouraged me to be proactive in learning about new laws and
DepEd issuances, which are essential in guiding classroom decisions and professional
conduct. I understood that continuous reflection and professional learning are key to
becoming a more effective and ethical teacher.
Overall, the LAC session was a valuable reminder of our responsibility to model ethical
behavior and adhere to legal standards at all times. It inspired me to be more reflective and
deliberate in my actions, always aiming to improve not only as a teacher but as a role model
for my students and the community.
