Job Description: Consultant, Legislative Research
Location: Delhi (for projects across India)

B. About the Team:
As a member of the Policy and Legislative Research Team, you will have a unique opportunity to
conduct original, cutting-edge research and analysis on legislation, policies, and reports. The team's
mission is to bridge policy and political insights to drive meaningful impact. The team produces
high-quality recommendations, analyses, and suggestions for a wide range of stakeholders at the
central and state levels. With a broad and open-ended mandate, the team undertakes long-term,
transformative projects carefully crafted to deliver lasting, high-impact outcomes and fundamentally
reshape key sectors.
C. What Would This Role Entail?
● In-depth Research, analysis and interpretation of national and international policies, programmes
and information for policy analysis briefs.
● Undertaking extensive consultation exercises with sectoral experts and organisations.
● Analytical skills including data analysis, critical thinking and problem solving.
● Keeping track of the Parliament, Committees, State Legislatures and understanding legislations,
their broader framework and impact on society.
● Staying up-to-date with current affairs in the social and policy sector.
● Assisting associates, senior associates, and managers in putting together client deliverables.
● Performing various administrative duties, such as organising meetings, creating agendas and
creating and distributing meeting notes.
● Working on long-term high-impact projects at the central or state level, which may entail frequent
travel.
D. Necessary Qualifications/Skills:
● Masters’ degrees in Economics/engineering with policy certifications and lawyers with
statistical understanding will be preferred.
● Bachelor’s Degree in Law/Political Science/Economics/Public Policy from renowned
Institutions or any other related field.
● Advanced research and analytical skills.
● Advanced knowledge of the intersectional application of law and social sciences.
● Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills.
● Understanding of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies functioning.
● Basic knowledge of Spreadsheets, Presentation Tools and Word Processors.
● Proficiency in English is required. Additionally, proficiency in Hindi is highly preferable
and knowledge of regional languages such as Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, etc is
also encouraged.
E. Good to Have Skills:
● Basic understanding of politics and the nature of India’s democracy.
● Masters’ Degree in Law/Public Policy/Economics or any other specialisation that is policy
oriented.
● Experience in Policy Advocacy or Public Engagement.
● Prior work experience with a think tank, top law firm, clerkship or litigation.
● Knowledge of Statistical tools such as STAT, MATLAB, etc.
● Proficiency in Data Analysis and Research Tools.
● Knowledge of Legislative Processes.
