Learning can be viewed as both a dynamic process of acquiring knowledge and skills, and as a product that results from educational activities. Insight learning is influenced by factors such as experience, intelligence, and the learning situation, and has characteristics like sudden realization and altered perception. Educational implications of insight learning include promoting critical thinking, encouraging discovery learning, and fostering a growth mindset among students.

Factors Influencing Insight
Many experiments have thrown light upon and established the various factors
which influence insight. Some of them are mentioned below;
1. Experience - Past experiences help in the insightful solution of the problems. A
child cannot solve the problems of Modern Mathematics unless he is well acquainted
with its symbolic language:

learner. The more intelligent the individual is the greater will be his insight.
3, Learning Situation ~ How insightfully the organism will react depends upon the
situation in which he has to act: Some situations are more favorable than the others
for insightful solution. As a common observation, insight occurs when the learning
situation is so arranged that all the necessary aspects are open for observation,
4. Initial Efforts or Trial and Error — Insightful learning has to pass through the
process of trial and error. Whatever an activity may be, attempts or efforts or trials
always lie at its root. This opens the way for insightful learning.
5. Repetition and Generalization — After having an insightful solution of a particular
type of problem, the organism tries to repeat it in another situation, demanding
similar type of solution. The way found in one situation helps him to react insightfully
in the other identical situations.
V. Characteristics of Insight
The above mentioned experiments make it quite obvious that learning by
insight has certain characteristics of its own. They are briefly as follows;
\lnsight is sudden. = of he Solutim to o pave .

J Old objects appear in new patterns and organization by virtue of insight.
14: Insight is relative to thefintéllectual level] The higher species of animals including
human beings have more insight than the members of lower species.
\ErIn insight, understanding is more useful than dexterity of hands.
6; [Previous experiencelis of assistance in insight. An organized perception is an
essential factor in learning.
«_7-|Maturitylalso affects insight as evidenced by the smoother working of insight in
colder age than in adolescence.
\-8 If the[pieces|essential for the solution of the puzzle are present together when
perceived, insight comes about earlier.
-9-Learning by insight is ssoctative Tearning| Insight appears suddenly after the
Gnanipulation of thoughts or objects for a small, through significant length of time.)

circumstances.
Educational implications of insight learning include:
1. Promoting Critical Thinking: Insight learning encourages students to think critically
and creatively about problems, rather than relying solely on rote memorization or
procedural algorithms. Teachers can foster insight by presenting students with open-
ended problems that require flexible thinking and problem-solving skills.
2. Encouraging Discovery Learning: Insight learning aligns with the principles of
discovery learning, where students actively engage in exploring and experimenting

with concepts to develop a deeper understanding. Teachers can create opportunities
for insight learning by providing hands-on activities, puzzles, and challenges that
require students to apply their knowledge in novel ways.
. Supporting Metacognition: Insight learning involves metacognitive processes such
as monitoring, evaluating, and regulating one's thinking. Teachers can help students
develop metacognitive awareness by prompting them to reflect on their problem-
solving strategies, identify obstacles, and adjust their approach as needed to achieve
insight.
ht learning reinforces the idea that intelligence is
not fixed but can be developed through effort and persistence. By praising students
for their effort and resilience in tackling challenging problems, teachers can promote
a growth mindset and encourage a willingness to take risks and embrace setbacks as
opportunities for learning.

traditional classroom and a Constructivist Classroom. Discuss the role of a
teacher in constructivist classroom.6+4+4
Law of Learning
Laws of Learning given by Edward Thorndike which are readiness, exercise and effect.
Here we divide laws of learning in 2 parts ie. Primary and secondary. As Learning is a
complex process, laws of learning b Thorndike makes them easy to learn and
understand. Lets learn here Thorndike’s laws of learning which helps us more in
details.
There are mainly two laws of learning
(A) The Primary Laws of Learning
{B) The Secondary Laws of Learning
The Primary laws of Learning
Law of Readiness: Readiness implies physical and mental preparedness to undertake
2 task. Readiness is the basis of learning, The more eager a person is to accomplish a
take the quicker her learns. The person is a state of readiness at once assimilates the
material concerning the job. A person who is not ready to learn cannot learn
effectively.
Education Implications: The following is the nature of the contribution of the law of
readiness in the field of education:
To Motivate the students
