Preliminary:
A.Greetings Good morning, future scientists!”
B. Prayer
C.Song
D.Checking of Led by a volunteer.
attendance
“Solar System Song” (Catchy YouTube version or class chant)
By the class secretary.
Today we will discuss about Construct a Model of the Solar System Showing the Relative
Sizes of the Planets and Their Relative Distances from the Sun
A. Reviewing Review Questions:
previous lesson or
presenting new lesson “Can you recall the names of the planets in order from the Sun?”
(Balik aral o pasimula
sa bagong aralin) “Which one is the biggest? The smallest?”
“Which one do we live on?”
Transition to New Lesson:
“Let’s take what we’ve learned and build our own model of the solar system!”
B) Establishing the Understanding the size and distance of the planets helps us realize how unique Earth is and
purpose for the lesson how vast our solar system truly is. Today, we’ll make a model to explore that.
C) Presenting Multimedia Presentation:
examples/instances of
the new lesson Show a short video about the planets' relative sizes and distances.
Present a scale comparison chart on screen or printed.
D) Discussing new Discussion:
concepts and
practicing new skills Review of planets' order: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus,
#1 Neptune
Explain “relative size” vs “actual size”
Discuss planet sizes using analogy: e.g., Earth = grape, Jupiter = watermelon
Discussing new Activity Demo:
concepts and
practicing new skills Show an example of a 2D or 3D solar system model
#2
Explain how to use scale to represent size and distance
Discuss spacing—inner vs outer planets
E) Developing Group Activity: “Construct Your Solar System Model”
Mastery (Leads to
Formative Materials: colored paper/balls/clay for planets, string/meter stick for distance
Assessment)
Instructions:
Assign planet to each group member
Use proper size and distance scale (teacher provides guide)
Mount or present on cardboard
Present models to class
F) Finding practical
application of
concepts and skills in “Why is it important to know Earth’s place in the solar system?”
daily living
“How does this knowledge help space missions and science research?
G) Making Class Summary:
generalization and
abstractions about the “The planets in our solar system are not only different in size but also in how
lesson far they are from the Sun. Understanding these differences helps us explore
space more wisely and value our home planet.”
H) Evaluating Rubric-Based Assessment of Group Output:
Learning
Accuracy of sizes
Correct planet order
Creative presentation
Group cooperation
Short Written Quiz (Individual):
Name the largest planet.
What planet is third from the Sun?
Why is the solar system called “heliocentric”?
Which planet is farthest from the Sun?
What is meant by “relative size”?
I) Additional For Fast Learners:
activities for
application or
remediation Create a short script and present a “Planet Talk Show” with each group member
acting as a planet.
For Learners Needing Help:
Pair with a buddy and review size/distance visuals again with teacher guidance.
Homework:
Ask students to create a solar system fact poster at home, including one interesting
fact about each planet.
