Documentation & Narration

WEEK 1: January 27 – January 31, 2025

My first week in the internship was both foundational and eye-opening, as I stepped into

a new chapter filled with both excitement and curiosity, unsure of what challenges lay ahead but

eager to learn. The week began with an orientation where we were introduced to the basic

protocols of the workplace, such as the formal way of sending emails—something that may seem

routine but is essential in maintaining professionalism in a business setting. We were then given

a refresher on the tax code, which initially seemed overwhelming due to its technical language,

but slowly started to make sense as I understood its importance in accounting compliance. We

also took a pre-test on general journal entries, which helped me assess where I stood in terms of

my practical accounting knowledge. Throughout the week, I familiarized myself with Microsoft

Excel, diving into its functions and formulas, which I quickly realized would become one of my

most used tools. By the end of the week, I had already started applying some of the concepts

through data entry tasks, bookkeeping, and even beginning a financial statement analysis—a task

that challenged me to see beyond numbers and understand the bigger financial picture they

represented.

WEEK 2: February 3 – February 7, 2025

The second week of my internship was centered on deepening my understanding of

financial statement analysis, a task that, while technical in nature, also required a strong grasp of

logic and interpretation. I spent several days thoroughly examining financial reports, looking at

trends, identifying discrepancies, and trying to make sense of how each figure contributed to the

overall financial health of an organization. Although we had two days working from home, I

remained committed to the tasks, ensuring that the quality of my work remained consistent

despite the physical distance from the office. The repetitive nature of financial analysis

eventually became a rhythm that I started to enjoy, as each balance sheet or income statement I

reviewed felt like a puzzle waiting to be solved.

WEEK 3: February 10 – February 14, 2025

As the third week unfolded, I continued my journey through financial statement analysis,

but this time with greater fluency and confidence in interpreting financial data. I found myself

less intimidated by numbers and more curious about what they represented. Midweek, I also

began encoding sales invoices (SI) into Excel, which taught me the importance of consistency,

accuracy, and keen attention to detail, especially when dealing with large volumes of

transactional data. The culmination of our efforts came at the end of the week when we presented

our financial statement analysis. Although I was initially nervous, the experience of explaining

our findings and insights gave me a sense of pride in how far I had come in such a short time.

WEEK 4: February 17 – February 21, 2025

This week marked a shift in focus toward bookkeeping and payroll-related tasks, offering

a new layer of understanding of how businesses manage employee compensation. We began with

2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

a basic orientation on payroll, where I learned about different payroll components, including

deductions, tax contributions, and net pay computation. I also had the opportunity to edit form

2316, which further familiarized me with official government forms and their proper usage. We

handled different aspects of payroll throughout the week, including encoding data related to

SAWT (Summary Alphalist of Withholding Tax) and SLSP (Summary List of Sales and

Purchases), which deepened my appreciation for the regulatory side of accounting.

WEEK 5: February 24 – February 28, 2025

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

As we continued with payroll responsibilities, I was able to enhance my accuracy and

efficiency in encoding and sorting receipts, ensuring all documentation was properly organized

and easy to retrieve. The week also involved the preparation and eventual presentation of our

payroll report, a task that not only tested my technical skills but also honed my ability to

communicate financial data clearly and confidently. Toward the end of the week, we began

touching on differential analysis, introducing us to a new analytical method that compared

different scenarios to aid decision-making—a skill that proved to be both challenging and

intellectually stimulating.

Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

This week was largely focused on deepening our understanding of differential analysis. It

was a mentally demanding process that required me to not only work through various data sets

but also interpret and explain their implications. The tasks included sorting receipts and inputting

SIs and ORs into Excel, which became a daily routine that reinforced the importance of precision

in data entry. Working from home also made me realize how self-discipline and time

management play a big role in being productive outside the usual office environment.

WEEK 7: March 10 – March 14, 2025

We concluded our differential analysis activities this week by preparing for and

delivering a presentation of our findings. The experience pushed me to articulate my thought

process clearly and justify our conclusions using both data and logic. After the presentation, we

transitioned into exercises that refreshed our knowledge of Excel formulas, and I also began

working on journal entries, which served as a good review of core accounting functions. Though

the tasks were repetitive at times, I found comfort in the routine and satisfaction in seeing my

progress.

Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

This week emphasized technical proficiency, particularly in using Excel for various

accounting entries. I spent the majority of my time encoding data into ledgers, columnar books,

and recording sales and purchases. We also revisited Excel formulas, checking and validating

entries to ensure everything was correct. I slowly developed a rhythm and deeper confidence in

my skills, especially as I noticed fewer corrections needed on my work. I also began contributing

more actively to team discussions, which made me feel more integrated and valued within the

workplace environment.

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

During this week, we began working on data entry related to Form 2307 and started our

introduction to forecasting. I learned how important it is to be accurate and timely when handling

tax documents and how forecasting allows companies to prepare for future financial trends. It

was fascinating to see how projections could be built from current data and assumptions. Sorting

receipts and managing supporting documents remained part of our routine, and though

sometimes tedious, these tasks sharpened my attention to detail and taught me the importance of

organization.

WEEK 10: March 31 – April 4, 2025

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

We continued data entry tasks—focusing on purchases, sales, and financial statements—

while progressing further into the forecasting process. Even though April 1 was a holiday, the

remainder of the week was productive, especially as we finalized our forecasting models and

presented them at the end of the week. This was a valuable exercise that not only tested my

analytical skills but also gave me insight into how businesses plan ahead, estimate risks, and set

realistic financial goals based on historical trends.

WEEK 11: April 7 – April 11, 2025

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

This week marked the beginning of our work on feasibility studies, a new and

intellectually engaging challenge that required me to combine financial data with strategic

thinking. I learned how feasibility studies help assess whether a business idea or project is viable

in terms of cost, revenue potential, and market demand. We also continued with routine data

entry and sorting of receipts, which grounded our more theoretical tasks in real, tangible

documentation.

WEEK 12: April 14 – April 18, 2025

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

With each passing day, our feasibility study began to take shape, and it was exciting to

contribute research, analysis, and insights that could inform decision-making. Sorting receipts

and handling financial data remained part of our daily activities, but now with the added

challenge of connecting that data to real-world business scenarios. It was this merging of theory

and application that made the work especially meaningful and rewarding for me.

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

This week was intense and fulfilling as we finalized our feasibility study. We encoded

more data related to LOA (Letter of Authority) and purchases, tied up loose ends, and prepared

our presentation. I felt a deep sense of accomplishment when we presented our study on the last

day of the week, as it symbolized weeks of hard work, learning, and collaboration. We also

resumed work on SAWT, SLSP, and receipt sorting, showing how the cycle of documentation

and compliance is ever-present in accounting.

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

As we entered the final stretch of the internship, we returned to sales and purchase

entries, while continuing work on SAWT and receipt organization. Even though the tasks had

become familiar, I noticed how much faster and more confident I had become in executing them.

The work, which once felt daunting and complex, now came naturally, and I was able to support

others while refining my own processes.

2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

This week marked the culmination of all the skills I had learned over the past months—

from Excel mastery and data encoding to regulatory compliance and financial analysis. I was

entrusted with more tasks related to SAWT, payroll, and sorting, which showed the trust my

mentors had in my reliability. I felt a strong sense of pride in how far I had come, both

professionally and personally.

The final day was a heartfelt send-off party, and it was a beautiful reminder of the

connections, lessons, and memories I had made throughout this internship. As I looked back, I

realized this journey wasn’t just about learning, it was about learning how to show up every day

with purpose, work as part of a team, and grow through every challenge. I walked away from this

experience not only with better skills but with deeper confidence in my future as a professional.

Assessment of Practicum Program

A. What is the most memorable event during your Practicum?

The most memorable event during my practicum was the presentation of

our financial statement analysis, where we finally got to showcase the outcome of

weeks of effort, review, and data gathering. That moment gave me a sense of

fulfillment, as I was able to apply what I had learned in school and during the

internship, and present it confidently in front of professionals. It was also during

this presentation that I realized how much I had grown—from being unsure and

hesitant, to becoming someone who could contribute valuable insights.

B. What are your experiences with the people in the company during your practicum?

My experience with the people in the company was incredibly positive.

They were welcoming, patient, and generous with their knowledge. Despite their

busy schedules, they never hesitated to guide me whenever I had questions or

needed assistance. They treated me with respect, not just as a trainee, but as

someone who was genuinely part of the team. The professional yet friendly

environment motivated me to do better and helped me feel comfortable and eager

to learn.

C. What have you learned from your experiences during your practicum?

Through this practicum, I learned the importance of accuracy, time

management, and attention to detail, especially in handling financial data. I also

improved my skills in using Excel and other accounting tools, and I came to

understand how theories learned in the classroom are applied in real-life

scenarios. Beyond the technical skills, I developed a stronger work ethic, learned

how to manage pressure, and understood the importance of teamwork and open

communication in a professional setting.

D. What is your recommendation to the company to improve?

CONCEPCION HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, INC.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ACCOUNTACY
Minane, Concepcion, Tarlac
2nd Semester | A.Y. 2024 – 2025

I have no specific recommendations because the company met my

expectations in terms of learning opportunities, work processes, and mentorship.

The work environment was healthy, the staff was approachable, and the workflow

was clear and organized, which allowed me to adapt easily and learn efficiently

throughout the practicum.

E. What is your advice to future on-the-job trainees?

To future on-the-job trainees, my advice is to stay curious, ask questions,

and never be afraid to make mistakes, because that’s how you’ll learn the most.

Make the most out of every task, no matter how small it seems, because

everything contributes to your growth. Always be respectful, punctual, and open

to feedback. Lastly, take the initiative—don’t wait to be told what to do. Show

that you are willing to learn, and you’ll gain not just skills, but valuable

relationships and insights that will serve you well in your future career.
