EXPLAIN (Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and
students).15 min.
Yes, Teacher Jenny! But before that settle
down, kids. Go back to your seats, arrange
your chairs and sit properly.
Now, how are you catching up with our Pupils: So good, Teacher!
activities?
That’s good to know.
I will be showing a lyrics here but kids, you do
not have to sing it first, all you have to do is to Pupils: Noted, Teacher!
read it aloud. Okay? Let’s read the first stanza.

Bahay kubo kahit munti Pupils: Bahay kubo kahit munti

Mga gulay dito ay sari-sari Mga gulay dito ay sari-sari
Singkamas at talong Singkamas at talong
Sigarilyas at mani Sigarilyas at mani
Sitaw bataw patani Sitaw bataw patani

After reading it, does anyone here are familiar

with the "Bahay Kubo" Folk Song? Pupils: Yes, Teacher!
In my count of three we will start to sing the
song.
(Bahay Kubo Song) Pupils: (sings Bahay Kubo)

Now, can you tell me what did you notice in

Kenneth: It’s like we were just reading a
singing and just reading the song? Very good! poem, teacher.
When we read the lyrics, it's just like a poem.
But when we sing the lyrics of the song with
its tune, it turned to a song. The tune of the
song is what we called Melody.
When we just read a song, we are just
speaking word by word, but when we sing a
song, we know that it's a song because it has a
Melody.
When we say Melody, basically it is the tune
of the song. Melody is the main part in a
musical composition. It is also the pleasing
arrangement of the sound. It is the sound that
we hear when we listen to a song.
It is also a series of pitches, notes, and rhythm
that tells an idea. Melody may have high
pitches and low pitches. Just like identifying
pitches with your instruments earlier.

Do you understand, kids? Do you have any

clarifications before we proceed? Confusions? Pupils: None, teacher..

Alright, that’s great to hear!

Teacher Juleen will discuss further.

ELABORATE (Students apply the information learned in the Explain. The teacher will
give inputs to deepen the understanding of the students.) 10 min.

Eyes up here, kids!

In order for you to understand more the high

and low sound, I will use my hand to show
you the high and low pitch of the song.

If my hand goes up the pitch is high and when

my hand goes down the pitch is low.

Now, we will sing the first to second line of

the song "Bahay Kubo" and identify how high Pupils: Yes teacher
or low the pitch of the song is.
Bahay kubo kahit munti
Mga gulay dito ay sari-sari
Singkamas at talong
Sigarilyas at mani
Sitaw bataw patani
Bahay kubo kahit pawid
Malamig ang simoy sa gitna ng bukid
Masarap humiga
Kahit na sa sahig
Buhay dito'y tahimik
Kubong munti dampang bahay
Maligayang lahi sa nagmamahalan
Kung ikaw at ako'y dito na titira
Buhay ay liligaya
Bahay kubo kahit pawid
Malamig ang simoy sa gitna ng bukid
Masarap humiga
Kahit na sa sahig
Buhay dito'y tahimik
Kubong munti dampang bahay
Maligayang lahi sa nagmamahalan
Kung ikaw at ako'y dito na titira
Buhay ay liligaya

To sum up everything we learn about what is

melody which has pitch that determines low Pupils: Thankyou, Teacher Kaka!
and high sound.

Did you get me?

Well done, kids! You can catch up with out

lesson really really fast!
Let’s give ourselves a jollibee clap!

IV. EVALUATE (How will you know the students have learned the concept) 5 min.

For that, we will have your indivual activity!

In the worksheets given to you, read the

instructions carefully.

On the first part of your test, study the pictures

below and identify what instrument is shown.

Secondly, you will classify the instruments

you just identified in the given box whether it
belongs to the low sound or high sound.

Is that understood, kids? Pupils: Noted, Teacher.

Good, you may now start answering.

Are you done, kids? Pupils: Yes teacher

You may now pass your papers here in front.

V. EXTEND (Deepen conceptual understanding through use in new context.) 2-3 mins.
Alright, as we are reaching the end of our
lesson. Here is your assignment.

Assignment: Listen to a song “Leron,

Leron, Sinta”. Perform or imitate a pitch or
a series of pitches correctly by either
singing or humming it by recognizing
whether a melody goes up or down. Prepare
to sing it in the class.
Pupils: None, Teacher
Do you have any questions?
If none, may I request everyone to please rise
for our closing prayer.
Joey: Let us sign of the cross.
Joey, can you please lead the prayer. Pupils: In the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, AMEN.

Joey: Glory be to the Father, to the Son,

to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the
beginning, is now and will be forver.

Pupils: Amen

AMEN.
Please arrange your chairs, pick up some Pupils: Good bye and thank you, Teacher
