Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Cleaning is used to remove dirt, including dust, stains, bad smells,

and clutter on surfaces. Cleaning have a purpose, the purpose of cleaning provide

an overview of the different types of cleaning products and explain how they work.

It reviews the issue related to mixing your own and using homemade alternatives.

With the expansion of green cleaning, this site also serves to explain the different

environmental, health and safety attributes important to green cleaning products.

Now the best way of alternative all-purpose cleaner is the organic all-purpose

cleaner.

The best-known cleaning products are also the ones laced heavily with

harsh chemicals. Mr. Clean, Windex, Clorox all effective, none organic. The

problem with switching over to more ecofriendly cleaning products ones that will

not coat your home with brain-cell-killing fumes is that lots of brands claim to be

“natural” or “organic.” But unlike the USDA-certified-organic stickers you can look

for in a grocery store’s produce section, you won’t find any such federal regulation

in the housekeeping aisle. (These kinds of companies are not even required to list

their ingredients, meaning they can sneak in chemicals without mentioning them

anywhere on the bottle.)

STI- College Global City
Senior High School 2

For green-living expert or organic devotee, the best natural cleaning

product is regular white vinegar and baking soda. However, if you do not want to

mix and bottle your own cleaning products, or would like something with a more

pleasant smell, there are many, many options.

Background of the Study

The researchers do this research because they think that there are a

high number of people who want to use the Organic or alternative cleaner.

Therefore, the first ingredients that they use in the organic all-purpose cleaner are

the vinegar. The Vinegar is an aqueous solution of acetic acid and trace

chemicals that may include flavorings. The Vinegar typically contains 5–20% by

volume acetic acid. It is a cheaper and more effective way of cleaning. Other

cleaning products are harmful to people’s health and the environment. Then the

second ingredients that the researchers use are Baking soda. Baking soda, also

known as sodium bicarbonate, is widely used in baking. It is a good for cleaning

because it is a mild alkali, which means it can get rid of grease and dirt. It is also

non-toxic because it is pure and an all-natural product. It is safe to use around

children unlike other cleaning products.

This Vinegar and baking soda are natural and economical, while other

cleaning items are toxic and expensive; it is clean just as good as or even better

than daily household cleaning products. Vinegar and baking soda can be used as

a cleaner all around the house. To clean a stain on the carpet, spray it with a
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 3

vinegar and water and scrub it out with a towel. If the windows are dirty, spray it

with vinegar.

As a result, vinegar and baking soda is a better way to clean. It is not

harmful and environment friendly. Other cleaning products are expensive and

dangerous. It is safer to use vinegar and baking soda to clean. Vinegar and

baking soda is also a more effective way of cleaning than other household

cleaning items.

Then the last ingredients that we use are lavender scent oil. Its name

derives from the Latin root “lavare,” which literally means, “to wash.” The earliest

recorded use of lavender dates back to ancient Egypt. There, lavender oil played

a role in the mummification process. During later times, lavender became a bath

additive in several regions, including Persia, ancient Greece, and Rome. These

cultures believed that lavender helped purify the body and mind. It is helpful to us

because Lavender is most commonly used in aromatherapy. The fragrance from

the oils of the lavender plant is believed to help promote calmness and wellness.

It has also said to help reduce stress, anxiety, and possibly even mild pain.

The researchers conduct this research to help the individuals they have a

safe and alternative cleaner, Since the product is cheaper than the chemical

products this will help the users of the product to save more money, because the

product can be sold at the price of 30 pesos per 500ml unlike any other cleaning

agents that is expensive this product is cheaper but effective. In addition to that,

this will help the housekeepers nowadays to avoid using chemical-based products
STI- College Global City

as a main cleaning agent in everyday used. The researchers want to study this

research to know deeply the result of the organic all-purpose cleaner as the main

cleaning agent.

Theoretical Framework

Vinegar and baking soda are a cheaper and more effective way of

cleaning. Other cleaning products are harmful to people’s health and the

environment. Vinegar and baking soda are natural and economical, while other

cleaning items are toxic and expensive. Vinegar and baking soda clean just as

good as or even better than daily household cleaning products. Vinegar is acid

based. Vinegar comes from a biological process where grains, fruits, and

vegetables are broken down and turns carbohydrates into acetic acid. Vinegar is

not harmful to the environment because it is biodegradable. Vinegar wipes out

bacteria, germs, and molds.

Vinegar can break up water mineral deposits because vinegar is an acid. It

can clean drains, showers, and sinks. Baking Soda is a good for cleaning

because it is a mild alkali, which means it can get rid of grease and dirt.

When removing dirt from any surface use a sponge, water, and baking

soda to clean it. Baking Soda is a great cleaner for plastic, steel, chrome, and

glass. Baking soda is non-toxic because it is pure and an all-natural product. It is

safe to use around children unlike other cleaning products. As a result, vinegar

and baking soda is a better way to clean. It is not harmful and environment

friendly. Other cleaning products are expensive and dangerous. It is safer to use
STI- College Global City

vinegar and baking soda to clean. Vinegar and baking soda is also a more

effective way of cleaning than other household cleaning items. Therefore the

researchers assume that there is a higher chance or greater percentage of

chance that the other people will choose the organic cleaner than the chemical

cleaner itself.

Conceptual Framework

Using the foregoing Theoretical Framework, the researcher came up with

the following Research Paradigm (Figure 1) which underscores the Input-

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

The following literature and studies, both foreign and local, focused on the

All-purpose Organic cleaner. These studies support, strengthened the study that

the researchers are conducting.

Quality of the Product

Foreign Literatures and Studies

According to Johnston C.S.(2006) Vinegar, from the French vin aigre,

meaning “sour wine,” can be made from almost any fermentable carbohydrate

source, including wine, molasses, dates, sorghum, apples, pears, grapes, berries,

melons, coconut, honey, beer, maple syrup, potatoes, beets, malt, grains, and

whey. Initially, yeasts ferment the natural food sugars to alcohol. Next, acetic acid

bacteria (Acetobacter) convert the alcohol to acetic acid. Commercial vinegar is

produced by either fast or slow fermentation processes. For the quick methods,

the liquid is oxygenated by agitation and the bacteria culture is submerged

permitting rapid fermentation. The slow methods are generally used for the

production of the traditional wine vinegars, and the culture of acetic acid bacteria

grows on the surface of the liquid and fermentation proceeds slowly over the

course of weeks or months. The longer fermentation period allows for the

accumulation of a nontoxic slime composed of yeast and acetic acid bacteria,

known as the mother of vinegar. Vinegar eels (nematodaTurbatrix aceti) feed on

STI- College Global City
Senior High School 11

these organisms and occur in naturally fermenting vinegar. Most manufacturers

filter and pasteurize their product before bottling to prevent these organisms from

forming. After opening, mother may develop in stored vinegar; it is considered

harmless and can be removed by filtering. Many people advocate retaining the

mother for numerous, but unsubstantiated, health effects.

The chemical and organoleptic properties of vinegars are a function of the

starting material and the fermentation method. Acetic acid, the volatile organic

acid that identifies the product as vinegar, is responsible for the tart flavor and

pungent, biting odor of vinegars. However, acetic acid should not be considered

synonymous with vinegar. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states

that diluted acetic acid is not vinegar and should not be added to food products

customarily expected to contain vinegar. Other constituents of vinegar include

vitamins, mineral salts, amino acids, polyphenolic compounds (eg, galic acid,

catechin, caffeic acid, ferulic acid), and nonvolatile organic acids (eg, tartaric,

citric, malic, lactic).

Furthermore, Peltier K. (2018) Vinegar can be virtually used anywhere in

the home from cleaning wood floors to windows to wastebaskets, but it is not

recommended for use on marble since the acid content can etch the surface.

Often combined with water for green cleaning, such as an aromatherapy all-

purpose vinegar spray, the ratio of water to vinegar may vary depending on the

cleaning task at hand. For example, pure vinegar might be needed to clean
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 12

heavy mildew stains on tile or disinfect a cutting board, whereas a simple 50/50

solution of vinegar will work for general everyday cleaning. The high acidity level

of vinegar helps loosen mineral deposits, such as lime and rust, and dissolve

soap scum due to their alkaline nature, so it is great for bathroom and kitchen

cleaning. It is also useful for cutting through grease on ovens, cooktops, stoves,

and grills, and it easily strips wax build-up off wood floors. In addition, a vinegar

soak helps remove stains, such as coffee and tea, from kitchen sinks, cups, and

coffee makers. It is also useful for deodorizing and removing kitchen and

bathroom odors as a simple spritz of a vinegar-water solution will prove. And it is

often added to the laundry rinse cycle as a softening agent.

Furthermore, McClements E. (2014) the chemical reaction actually occurs

in two steps. First, there is double displacement reaction in which acetic acid in

vinegar reacts with sodium bicarbonate to form sodium acetate and carbonic

acid. Carbonic acid is unstable and undergoes a decomposition reaction to

produce the carbon dioxide gas. The carbon dioxide escapes the solution as

bubbles. The bubbles are heavier than air, so the carbon dioxide collects at the

surface of the container or overflows it. A dilute sodium acetate solution remains

after the reaction. So, if you’re looking to clean your sink, toilet, tub, counters, or

stovetop with more than just salt water, then I would not recommend mixing the

baking soda and vinegar, letting it sit for a minute while it fizzes, and then doing

your cleaning. At that point you’ll basically be cleaning with diluted salt water.
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 13

Ossola A. (2016) Baking soda, aka sodium bicarbonate, is actually a salt.

Go ahead and try it; you’ll find that it tastes like a milder version of the salt in your

shaker.Like all salts, baking soda is a neutral compound formed from a positively

charged ion, or cation, and negatively charged ion, or anion. But while ionically

speaking baking soda is neutral, its pH is higher than neutral. This means that it is

slightly basic (the opposite of acidic), which is key to understanding why it’s such

a good cleaner. The acid-base reaction is also the reason baking soda and

vinegar are cleaning partners in crime. The baking soda and vinegar volcano

might be a science-fair classic, but that same explosive chemical reaction can do

wonders in your kitchen or bathroom. Pouring baking soda and vinegar down a

drain can unclog it; slathering a baking soda paste inside your filthy oven and then

splashing a little vinegar on it cuts through grease and leaves it gleaming. For

some things, baking soda works better than typical soap. Although both are basic

(not acidic), soap contains fat molecules that make it less harsh. Baking soda, on

the other hand, is abrasive, which gives it the grit to dislodge particles and remove

stains from a number of surfaces.

According to Whiting Barbara (2019) Baking soda is a sodium bicarbonate,

a natural substance that maintains the pH balance. Baking soda neutralizes both

acids and bases, so it actually eliminates odors rather than just covering them up.

In cooking, baking soda releases carbon dioxide when heated, and this causes

cookies, breads, and cakes to rise. Baking soda can also act as a very mild

abrasive cleaner perfect for removing stains from sinks, counter tops, and even
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 14

fine china. Baking soda causes dirt and grease to dissolve in water, so it is very

effective in cleaning numerous spots in the kitchen, including countertops,

refrigerators, and stovetops. And sprinkled on a sponge or dishrag, baking soda

forms a mildly abrasive scouring powder.

Furthermore by Wong C. (2019) Lavender essential oil is one of the most

popular and versatile essential oils used in aromatherapy. Distilled from the plant

Lavandula angustifolia, the oil promotes relaxation and believed to treat anxiety,

fungal infections, allergies, depression, insomnia, eczema, nausea, and menstrual

cramps. In essential oil practices, lavender is multipurpose oil. It is purported to

have anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial and

antimicrobial properties, as well as antispasmodic, analgesic, detoxifying, hypoten

According to Dawn S. (2018) Lavender is one of the most popular oils and

for very good reason. It is amazing oil for relaxing the body, mind, and soul. It

calms the body and eases muscle tension, pain, stress, and anxiety, opening you

up for spiritual healing. Lavender has a very soft and soothing energy and is used

to heal, calm, and purify. It will help ease the mind, emotions and the spirit. It very

effective to use for depression and anxiety as it encourages feelings of

compassion, increases dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, brings feelings

of happiness, and relaxes the body and mind. It is also used to treat insomnia due

to its calming properties. It helps release any energetic blocks you may have and

will assist you in cutting cords to unhealthy relationships, situations, and past

events. Creating a clear pathway to connect and communicate with your angels,

you’re higher-self and the spiritual realm. Lavender is very spiritual oil. It assists

with creating balance, harmony, and inner-peace both within us and in our

environment. Use during meditation and prayer work to raise your vibrations, relax

and connect with spirit. Lavender increases your awareness, so you are more

open to the signs and messages from your angels and spiritual guides. You can

use lavender to balance all your energy centers including your chakras, aura, and

personal space. It is associated with the fourth (heart) chakra and the seventh

(crown) chakra. Make it especially helpful for opening your heart to receiving and

feeling connected with spirit. sive, and sedative effects.

According to Dahlhausen (2013) Vinegar and baking soda is a cheaper and

more effective way of cleaning. Other cleaning products are harmful to people’s

health and the environment. Vinegar and baking soda are natural and economical,

while other cleaning items are toxic and expensive. Vinegar and baking soda

clean just as good as or even better than daily household cleaning products.

Vinegar is acid based. Vinegar comes from a biological process where grains,

fruits, and vegetables are broken down and turns carbohydrates into acetic acid.

Vinegar is not harmful to the environment because it is biodegradable. Vinegar

wipes out bacteria, germs, and molds. Vinegar can break up water mineral

deposits because vinegar is an acid. It can clean drains, showers, and sinks.

Baking Soda is a good for cleaning because it is a mild alkali, which means it can

water, and baking soda to clean it. Baking Soda is a great cleaner for plastic,

steel, chrome, and glass. Baking soda is non-toxic because it is pure and an all-

natural product. It is safe to use around children unlike other cleaning products.

Vinegar and baking soda can be used as a cleaner all around the house. To clean

a stain on the carpet, spray it with a vinegar and water and scrub it out with a

towel. If the windows are dirty spray it with vinegar. Use a solution of 1 cup of

vinegar per one gallon of water to clean and shine no wax floors. In the bathroom

spray the toilet with vinegar to get stains out. Also to forbid mildew on the shower

curtains spray it with vinegar every once in a while. If there are ants anywhere in

the house spray any place that has ants with vinegar and the ants should go

away. Vinegar and salt can get rid of stains from china. Vinegar is also a great

cleaner for countertops, stoves, and refrigerators. Pour baking soda and the same

amount of vinegar in the drain to unclog it.When the mixture finishes bubbling,

rinse with warm water. To prevent lint when doing laundry just add ½ cup of

vinegar to the rinse cycle. Submerge clothes in vinegar before washing it to

prevent color from running in the wash. To take out scorch marks made by the

iron, rub clothes with vinegar and salt.

Furthermore Wilkinson J.M. (2002) Essential oils distilled from members of

the genus Lavandula have been used both cosmetically and therapeutically for

centuries with the most commonly used species being L. angustifolia, L. latifolia,

L. stoechas and L. x intermedia. Although there is considerable anecdotal

information about the biological activity of these oils much of this has not been
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 17

substantiated by scientific or clinical evidence. Among the claims made for

lavender oil are that is it antibacterial, antifungal, carminative (smooth muscle

relaxing), sedative, antidepressive and effective for burns and insect bites. In this

review we detail the current state of knowledge about the effect of lavender oils on

psychological and physiological parameters and its use as an antimicrobial agent.

Although the data are still inconclusive and often controversial, there does seem

to be both scientific and clinical data that support the traditional uses of lavender.

According to Bauru J. A. (2008) the vinegar is a sour and astringent liquid

consisting mainly of acetic acid, resulting from the fermentation of an alcoholic

beverage, mainly white and red wines. This is product is cheap, easily found in

the market, and seems to have antimicrobial potential. Estrela (2004) evaluated

the use of vinegar as an irrigating solution and intracanal medicament in microbial

elimination from dog's teeth with apical periodontitis. Microbe absence was

observed in 40% of samples treated with vinegar. Basson (1992) showed the

effectiveness of undiluted vinegar solutions in killing adherent microorganisms

when used as disinfection agent for denture cleansing. In vitro experiments have

already shown that low fungicidal doses of acetic acid induce programmed cell

death in C. albican.

Effectiveness

Foreign Literatures and Studies

According to Ecangeli A. & Thanh A. (2018) Vinegar, be it white or malt or

rosemary-infused, is about 5 per cent acetic acid. The acid kills bacteria and

viruses, by chemically changing the proteins and fats that make up these nasties

and destroying their cell structures. When US researchers tested commercial

cleaning products against alternatives like vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, they

discovered that neat vinegar killed a range of household pathogens. Science also

tells us, for example, that vinegar will kill off the flu virus

Furthermore Ossola A. (2016) Vinegar’s acidity is what makes it such a

good cleaner. Because vinegar is so acidic, it can counteract some icky buildups.

It can dissolve away soap scum, brines left by hard water, and glue left behind by

stickers.Vinegar is great for giving windows and mirrors (use a combination of

vinegar and water and wipe with a newspaper instead of a paper towel to avoid

streaks), no-wax floors, and wood paneling or cabinets an extra-clean shine.

Another use for vinegar? Getting rid of stubborn stains. Lots of stains, whether

from sweaty armpits or grass, are slightly acidic, which means they will dissolve

away in the presence of another acid, like vinegar. A paste of vinegar and baking

soda can dissolve set red wine stains. Vinegar can even get cat or dog urine out

of carpets or other cloths and, bonus, that pungent smell can keep pets away from

places you do not want them to go.

STI- College Global City
Senior High School 19

Furthermore Ossola A. (2016) unlike air fresheners or candles, which

simply mask odors, baking soda actually absorbs things that might make your

kitchen smell less than clean. (This is why people leave boxes of baking soda in

their refrigerators). That is because most odors are acidic and, because baking

soda is basic, it reacts with the acids in the air to neutralize them. The acid-base

reaction is also the reason baking soda and vinegar are cleaning partners in

crime. The baking soda and vinegar volcano might be a science-fair classic, but

that same explosive chemical reaction can do wonders in your kitchen or

bathroom. Pouring baking soda and vinegar down a drain can unclog it; slathering

a baking soda paste inside your filthy oven and then splashing a little vinegar on it

cuts through grease and leaves it gleaming.

According to Whiting B. (2019) Baking soda causes dirt and grease to

dissolve in water, so it is very effective in cleaning numerous spots in the kitchen,

including countertops, refrigerators, and stovetops. And sprinkled on a sponge or

dishrag, baking soda forms a mildly abrasive scouring powder. Use baking soda

dissolved in water to clean and freshen the inside of your refrigerator. For

stubborn coffee stains in cups, sprinkle baking soda on the stain, wipe with a

damp sponge, and rinse. Baking soda is safe and effective as a paste to remove

Kool-Aid and juice stains from kitchen countertops. Again as a paste, baking soda

is great for removing dirt and grime from the inside door of your dishwasher or the

drum of your washing machine. It can also remove odors in your shoes.
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 20

Furthermore Frost S. (2019) Baking soda helps with cleaning in two ways.

As a mild alkali, it helps get rid of dirt and grease easily. If you keep it as a

powder, it has a mild abrasive effect that helps you gently scour surfaces.

Because it is a natural product and a food, you know it is safe to use on different

surfaces with no worry of toxic chemicals contaminating your space.

Baking soda also helps neutralize odors, which is why many people keep a box

in the fridge. You can also use it to deodorize carpets, furniture and similar items.

Vinegar is another natural food product that can replace harsh toxic cleaners.

The acidity in vinegar is what makes it effective on various surfaces. Like baking

soda, vinegar can help deodorize, and it is effective at removing some stains.

However, because of the acidity, vinegar is not safe to use everywhere despite

its nontoxic nature. Natural stone surfaces on floors and countertops can become

etched from vinegar. The liquid can also damage many wood surfaces, including

hardwood floors.

Local Literature and Studies

According to Dela Cruz R. T. (2002) a few farmers have already been

using natural agents like baking soda, garlic and vinegar as herbicide, there were

really no scientific studies to back-up that these agents are effective. Thus,

scientists from ARS conducted greenhouse and field researches to determine the

effectiveness of vinegar as herbicide. To conform to organic farming standards,

the scientist used vinegar derived from fruits (grapes and apples) or grains (malt).

Naturally processed vinegar is produced by rotting the fruits or the grains under
STI- College Global City

an anaerobic or “no-oxygen condition”. Through fermentation, the sugars from

these plant sources are converted to alcohol and carbon dioxide. Through

oxidation, the alcohol reacts with air to form vinegar. Vinegar that is prepared from

plants sources contains 5% acetic acid, a pungent, colorless acid, which is

basically the main component of vinegar.

Costing and Expenses

Foreign Literatures and Studies

According to Espinosa G. & Espinosa E. (2011) a study about the relative cost

of environmentally preferable (green) cleaning products showed that its offered

opportunities for cost savings, for example, through reduced used of water and

chemical use, safer work environments. The prices of green products were not

significantly different from those of equivalent conventional products were more

expensive.

According to Baskind (2010) the organic cleaner cost of covering higher loss the

reason is many farmers use certain chemicals on their crops to reduce losses from

pest and other maladies, organic farmers don’t use pesticides and antibiotics, so

they lose more crops to pests. This make the crop that does survive cost more.

Also without all the preservatives added to chemically treated harvest, organic are

subject to a shorter storage time and shelf life but, Somers (2019)even though

many believed that organic is expensive a study from Washington State University

took examine the profitability behind the organic farming that because the organic
STI- College Global City

crops cost more to grow and therefore the researchers examined the price

premiums on these organic crops, the study showed that organic farming provided

farmers with a lower value when compared to traditional crop, but when the price

premium for organic produce was applied, the organic crops and cropping system

has substantially higher value. Griffirth (2015) also a natural cleaners are very

effective that are safe for you and your family, they’ll save your money while helping

to protect the environment.

Furthermore Paterson ( 2019) in cleaning a house it’s annoying to waste your

precious pennies on overpriced cleaning products but, there’s actually no need to

fork out on expensive cleaning supplies to get your floors, windows and even your

microwave because there is many alternative cleaning supplies that perfect for a

student household. They’re cheap, versatile, non-toxic like the vinegar that has just

a high enough acidity level to lift dirt and make things sparkle and a baking soda

that’s become so thoroughly integrated into cleaning routines also good for soaking

up odors.

According Hamm (2011) vinegar does a lot of things. The simple fact that you

can compare it to many different product also vinegar is friendlier to environment

than virtually all other options, Vinegar is essentially just a product of the

fermentation of alcohol. After all, which occurs naturally all the time and is easy to

do in a kitchen environment? That certainly can save you a bit of money if you are

selective in your use of vinegar.

STI- College Global City
Senior High School 23

According to Craig (2014) also the Baking soda is a non-toxic cleaning product

that good in our health; this is one of those times when going green also save your

money. This simple white powder is a versatile as it is cheap that only cost a dollar

but also like the baking soda, vinegar can be used in cleaning that can be buy in a

very cheap prices.

Furthermore Burrows (2018) in an environmentally- friendly cleaning product

using items in your kitchen, like white vinegar, baking powder and sweet smelling

essential oils products are very cheap but can make sure your safety even you use

this kind of product. Vinegar and Baking soda kill germs just as well, clean better

and cost less than toxic commercial cleaners.

According Gans (2019) the cost of housecleaning products is equally as

staggering. However, rather than spend huge portion of your pay check on cleaning

products there’s a few common items that like the baking soda is a hardworking

cleaning item that is both versatile and very inexpensive. Like baking soda white

vinegar is also inexpensive that can be used as a non-toxic disinfecting agent.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter discusses the methods and procedures used in this study, the

procedure of how the study is investigated; tools use to gather the data as well as

the statistical treatment had been used.

Research Methods Used

This study used the descriptive research method due to the

appropriateness to the problem. The researcher assessed the random

respondents- Barangay Pinagsama (Phase 2) limited for the purpose of having a

reference on the product Organic All Purpose Spray Cleaner.

Descriptive research is a type of research that describes what exists in a

current situation and may help to uncover new facts and meaning through

The Table above enumerates the age of the group of respondents. Most

(f= 16, 32 percent) of the respondents are already in their 20’s (between 25 and

below), while the others hand, majority (f= 9, 18 percent) are already in their early

40’s (41 years old to 45 years old).and also (f= 9, 18 percent) are in their late 40’s

(between 46 and above), and some (f= 6, 12 percent) are still in their early 30’s

(31 years old to 35 years old) and other few (f=5, 1 percent) in late 20’s (26 years

The gender of the respondents is presented in Table 2. The female

respondents are mostly (f= 32) females. This data proves that females are mostly

the one who answered the survey; as females are thought to be most have

knowledge about the cleaning agent that be needed to use to clean different parts

of their houses.

Sampling Technique

Best & Khan (199) defines a population as a ‘group of individuals that have

one or more characteristics in common that are of interest to the researchers’.

The population is a ‘group of people who are the focus of a research study and to
STI- College Global City

which the results would apply (Cardwell 1999: 179). Thus, the population is the

group to which the researcher would like to make references.

Cluster random sampling technique was used in this study. A cluster

random sample is a probability sample that is a sampling technique in which

sample form a larger population are chosen using a method based on the theory

of probability, a participant to be considered must be selected using a random

selection. This type of sampling uses statistical theory to select randomly, a small

group of people from an existing large population. Cluster random sampling

method may analyze a particular population in which the sample consist of more

than an elements, they selected by dividing the greater population into a various

smaller selections.

Instrumentation

The research instrument is based on the standardized instruments of the

Organic All Purpose Spray Cleaner Questionnaire which is divided into 3

components that effectively measures the product of the said target respondents.

The instrument is tailor-fitted by the researcher to gather the profiles of the

respondents that are deemed necessary. The parts in the said instrument

followed the same sequence as the specific questions posed in Chapter 1.

Data Gathering Procedures

The researcher facilitated the survey questionnaire to the residents of the

said community. Afterwards, the gathered data were organized, tallied, analyzed

and interpreted.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The slovin’s formula, frequency distribution, percentage, weighted mean

were the statistical tools used in the study through the Statistical Package for

Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0.

Conclusions

The Organic All-purpose cleaner in terms of its Quality, assessed by the

respondents as ‘Satisfied’. This means they believe that the product is good in

terms of quality. The Standards of the organic all-purpose cleaner meets the

standards of the chemical cleaner that is now in market based on the answers

that the researchers gather from the survey form. The Quality of the product is

important because this will serve as the reference for the other people who wants

to try it. Even though there is no science study that occurs in this research but the
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 39

researchers assessed the respondents about the quality so that the result that the

researchers gather will use to show the quality of the Organic All-purpose cleaner

According to the respondents rate the Organic all-purpose cleaner in terms of

effectiveness rated as they are “Satisfied” in its effectiveness. This means that the

effectivity of the product is effective for cleaning. The Vinegar can use as a anti-

microbial because it is a acid. And the Sodium Bicarbonate can be use as a

whitener but it is not chemical but a natural whitener and for the the smell of the

product the researchers use the essential oil. These ingredients are all natural

and rated by the respondents that it is effective for household cleaning for the

respondents.

expensive like the chemical cleaners. It only means that this is a product that is

affordable for users nowadays. Because this product can be sold for 30 pesos per

500ml only the ingredients that is use in this product is also cheap.

This points in the research only means that this product can serve as a proof that

this product can be used as alternative product for the chemical cleaners. The
STI- College Global City
Senior High School 40

effectiveness the quality and costing of the product is rated all satisfied for all the

respondents.

However, there is still things to consider in a cleaner. Additional with that the

researchers study this alternative cleaner to have a safe cleaning for the people.

Recommendations

Following are the recommendations to improve the Organic All-purpose cleaner:

1. The product can be examine in laboratories like in DOST to prove its

anti-microbial properties in order to know how powerful the cleaner.

2. The product will undergo to the tests of DTI to accept it in the market so

that it can be sold as a cleaning agent.

Future Researchers engage in similar topics of hybrid focus that effectively

connect the gap that may be left unresolved. Certain inadequacies, at least, may

give insights and encouragement to undertake a validation and follow up study.
