WHAT IS GENDER
IDENTITY?
• Gender Identity is each person’s
internal and individual
experience of gender.
• It is a person’s sense of being a
woman, a man, both, neither, or
anywhere along the gender
spectrum.
WHAT IS GENDER
EXPRESSION?
• Defined as the way in which an
individual publicly expresses
their gender, for example,
through aspects such as clothing,
hair, makeup, and body
language.
LGBTQIA+?
• LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or
sometimes Questioning, Intersex,
Asexual, and others.
• The “plus” represents other sexual
identities.
• The acronym is used to represent a
diverse range of sexualities and gender
identities, referring to anyone who is
transgender and/or same/similar gender
attracted.
LGTB+ infographics
A lesbian is a woman/woman-aligned person who is attracted to only people of the
LESBIAN same/similar gender.
Gay is usually a term to refer to men/men-aligned individuals who are only attracted to people of
GAY the same/similar gender.

BISEXUAL Bisexual indicates an attraction to multiple genders.

Transgender is a term that indicates that a person’s gender Identity is different from the gender
TRANSGENDERassociated with the sex they were assigned at birth.
QUEER Or Queer is a word that describes sexual and gender identities other than straight and cisgender.
QUESTIONING Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender may all identify with the word queer.
A term to describe individuals who are born with variations of sex characteristics that do not fit
INTERSEX with binary definitions of male and female bodies.
This term refers to someone who has little or no sexual attraction, they may, however, experience
ASEXUAL romantic attraction.
The “plus” is used to signify all of the gender identities and sexual orientations that are not
+ (PLUS) specifically covered by the other seven initials.
