Cellphone and Electronic Device Procedure and Regulations
Cellphones
Pupils are not permitted cell phones at school.
Six Form pupils, who have permission to drive to school, may carry a cell-phone in their car but may
not use it during the school day or while driving to and from school.
Electronic Devices
Laptops, tablets or ipads are permitted for Form Three upwards for educational purposes only.
Refer to the Personal Devices Code of Conduct for the conditions of their use. Parents and pupils
must request permission to bring a device to school by completing the Permission to Bring a
Personal Device to School Form through their respective Head of Year.
Pupils in Forms Three and Four are not required to bring in a device for educational purposes but
may bring in a device should it assist in their learning once they have completed the relevant
procedures.
Permission to bring a device into school may be withdrawn by the Head or Head of Year at any time.
Tablets provided by the school may be used in junior years (Forms One and Two). Please refer to the
Electronic Media Policy and Student Tablet Contract for approved usage.
Smart watches are permitted in all year groups but may not be used for transmitting data during the
school day. Smart watches, or any other transmitting device, are not permitted in internal or
professional examinations.

Permission to Bring a Personal Device to School Form
Pupils must accept the following conditions and complete two copies of this Code of Conduct before
they are given permission to bring their own devices into School. This application must be supported
by a parent.
Pupils must acknowledge and accept the following;
To agree to the principle of responsible Internet use and adhere to the school’s code of
conduct for computer usage.
To understand that the school bears no responsibility for the safety or security of their
computer equipment and that all virus protection is their responsibility.
To understand that Internet use will be monitored and only approved sites may be accessed
while at school.
To understand that this privilege may be withdrawn by the Head or Head of Year if used
inappropriately.
Personal Devices Code of Conduct
I will only bring in a media device, such as a lap-top, ipad or tablet, that is useful for educational
purposes. I will only use approved sites while at school, for educational purposes, and not engage in
social media.
I will keep the sound switched off at all times and I will not use headphones, earphones, air-pods, etc.
I will be responsible for my device and will not allow other people to use it nor will I use other
people’s devices.
I will ensure the security of my device.
I will provide clear identification of my device.
If given access to the school bandwidth, I will only use it for school purposes as directed by a
teacher.
I will adhere to the underpinning principle of the school that any electronic device use at school is
for educational purposes only.
