Teaching notes
This resource is designed to enable students to use their dictionary skills (all
the words are in the Collins First Time Spanish Dictionary) to find out the
names of some unusual pets in Spanish, as well as to practise writing
sentences about the pets and the pets’ names.
In section A, students look up the animal words in the Spanish–English section
of the dictionary, and draw a picture of the animal in the box. Then in section
B, they use the animal words and the names to write sentences, following the
example.
In section C, students look up the animal words in the English–Spanish section
of the dictionary and write the Spanish words in the boxes. They will need to
look carefully at the dictionary to ascertain the gender of each word, and write
un or una accordingly. For section D, they can then write sentences about
these pets following the pattern from section B.
