What challenges you have as a teacher of young learners the 21st century
skills?

The challenge as a school teacher in my opinion is how do we as teachers

get their attention and interest in learning and attract students to be active during
the teaching and learning process so that the learning process will take place
effectively. and we also have to prepare material according to the
characteristics of students' abilities, where each child has different strengths.
For example, an example of a teacher's challenge in the classroom is
during the teaching process when the teacher explains the material and asks
students, they are sometimes silent and if they are allowed to ask questions,
sometimes no one asks so that makes the learning atmosphere in the class
unattractive to students' learning.
What do you think is the better way of teaching English to young learners?

A better way to teach English to young learners can be started by using

English as everyday language, singing English songs for young learners, and
can be interspersed with playing so that children don't get bored easily. The
skills that must be possessed by 21st century students are critical thinking,
creative, communication, and collaboration.
1. The method that I will use in developing students' critical thinking skills
is problem-based learning.
For example: students are given problems that exist in everyday life and
then they are asked to choose and give reasons for a choice.

2. The method that I will use in developing students' creative abilities is

contextual learning.
For example: students can be taken to parks or public places and then
students are asked to state what they observe using English.

3. The method I use to improve students' communication skills is

discussion. In discussions, students can also gain collaboration skills
between students.
For example: students discuss a problem given by the teacher later there
will be a question and answer process that can train student
communication.

4. The method that can be used in developing collaboration skills is playing.

For example: students can learn to play while playing so each student will
have a role so they can collaborate well.
What is the joy to be the teacher of young learners and what should you do
to be a creative and inspiring teacher in the 21st century skills?

I used to be a teacher during PLP activities at one of the elementary

schools in my hometown. That is very fun!! I worked this PLP activity for about
2 months. It was challenging at times, but so rewarding in the end. Teaching
children that young learners can be very difficult since they have very short
attention spans. You need to be very patient to deal with it. Kids that age have a
tough time sitting still for long periods of time. One thing I often do is make
them do almost any body movement like stand and jump, run around, shake
their arms and legs. I think any movement at that age helps develop gross motor
skills and coordination. Every victory, no matter how small, should be
celebrated. The children should be praised for doing well. Often they do funny
things, for example giving gifts to teachers, paying attention to teachers with
funny things. Being a young learners teacher is also one of the positive things
for a teacher who always looks young hahaha
As a teacher, especially in the 21 st century, creativity and inspiring are
highly valued because today's students are very different from students in the
past who only learned through explanations on the blackboard. With today's
increasingly advanced technology, teachers must also be creative in processing
and modifying learning both with e-learning and games, so that students are
happy while learning. For example, during PLP activities I modified learning by
not only using the blackboard. By utilizing technology I explain the material
through powerpoint and display a video related to the learning material that day.
Besides that I also added games that contain questions about material using an
application called quizizz. And it is enough to make students more excited and
happy during learning. The material presented can also be accepted by students.
By becoming a creative and inspiring teacher, it is hoped that there will be a
teacher who is able to motivate and inspire students, so that students are able to
optimize every potential they have so that it will be useful for their future.
