Nav-O-Matic 400A This bulletin affects only the 400A autopilot when used
Autopilots in conjunction with an external power supply that has
been installed in the field. External power supplies
which have been installed at Cessna as part of a factory
avionic package already incorporate this wiring change
and therefore are not affected.

ITEM #3: The Aircraft Operators Order Form MK8402-1 for sub-
scribing to Cessna Service Letters has recently been
OPERATOR SUBSCRIPTION revised to include the Cessna Avionic Service Letter --
SERVICE FOR AVIONIC a fee of $25.00 is charged for a 2 year subscription the
SERVICE LETTERS same as on the SE and ME Service Letters. A copy of
the revised Operator Order Form (MK8402-2) is attached
and additional copies are available from the Cessna
Service Parts Center at no charge.
The primary purpose of the new Cessna Avionics Service
Letter is to broaden the Service Support for technicians
servicing Cessna Avionics -- therefore Zones and Dealers
should make certain that all Independent Operators and
Avionic Shops in their area are aware of this new
Avionics Service Letter and associated Subscription
Program.

SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE
FOR OPERATORS
To assist you and other aircraft operators in servicing Cessna
aircraft, Cessna has available an information program as detailed
on the order form on the back of this page. With this form, you
may order single engine, multi-engine, and avionic service letters
on a subscription basis. Service Letter subscriptions will begin
upon receipt of your order and will continue for two years from
receipt date, at which time you will be given an opportunity to
renew.
Also, you may order on this form a complete listing of all service
publications available from Cessna. From this listing you can
purchase various service and parts catalogs to build your library
of Cessna service information.
If you wish to avail yourself of any of this information, fill out the
order from on the back of this page and return it to ---

Service Advisory Bulletin # 41
TO: ARC Service Agencies
SUBJECT: RT-528A/508/328A/308A A1-C155 Capacitor Failure
In accordance with ARC's product improvement plan, we recommend
the replacement of the A1-C155 Capacitor (see attached diagram for
location), ARC P/N 40248-21660 (22 mfd ± 20% 15v), with ARC P/N 40248-
22130 (15 mfd ± 20% 20v).
NOTE: Replace C155 only if the existing C155 is of solid black
color. If the existing C155 is color coded with brown,
green and blue, it has already been improved. ARC will
furnish the new replacement capacitor N/C for those units
not yet changed.
ARC reserves the right to make changes in its designs or addition
to or improvements in its equipment without obligation to install such
additions or improvements in equipment theretofore manufactured.

FIELD ENGINEERING SERVICE BULLETIN
To: ARC Service Agencies Date October 9, 1973 No. 158A
Subject: Use of External 26v 400 Hz Sync with 400A Autopilot
NOTE: Please remove Bulletin No. 158 and replace with Bulletin No. 158A.
For optimum performance of the subject Autopilot, it is necessary that
all internally-used 400 Hz voltages be in-phase with the common (external)
26v 400 Hz power supply. The following changes are therefore recommended to
ensure phase synchronization with the external 26v 400 Hz power supply.
These changes involve disconnecting the internal 400 Hz oscillator in the
CA-530A Computer Amplifier and re-connecting the affected circuitry to ob-
tain 400 Hz sync from the external 26v supply, which will be used to drive
amplifier A7 Q2. The changes should be incorporated at the earliest possible
convenience.
NOTE: The recommended changes have already been incorporated in the CA-530FD
Computer Amplifier.
RECOMMENDED CHANGES:
Reference: Schematic and associated internal wiring diagram, CA-530A
Computer Amplifier, ARC P/N 37970.
1. In the CA-530A, disconnect the wires from A9 J1-H and reconnect
to A9 J1-F. If a bypass capacitor is wired to A9 Jl-H, leave it
connected.
2. If there is a jumper on the A7 board between A7 C5, A7 R8, and
A7 C6A, remove it. See attached drawing, Fig. 1. If there is
no jumper, open the circuit so that the positive (+) side of A7
C6A is completely isolated from all connections.
3. Add a new wire from the positive (+) side of A7 C6A to A9 Jl-H.
4. Disconnect the wire at Pin H of external connector P5 (mates
with J1) and stow.
5. Connect the external 26v 400 Hz supply to external connector P5
pin H, as shown in attached drawing Fig. 2. The external poten-
tiometer R2 and associated series resistor R1 should be mounted
on a bracket (to be fabricated locally) and located as close as
possible to the CA-530A. Protect the soldered connections with
suitable sleeving.
Aircraft Radio Corporation. Boonton New Jersey 07005 (201)334-1800

6. Stamp rear of CA-530A as follows: "Modified for external 400 Hz
sync per F.E.S.B. No. 158A.
NOTE: The following two steps must be performed with the aircraft engines
running, and with all other systems operating (those systems which
are also connected to the external 26v 400 Hz power supply). This
is to ensure proper DC and AC voltage levels into the autopilot
system. The input sync frequency from the external 26v 400 Hz
power supply should be 400 +40 Hz.
7. With autopilot ON, adjust the external potentiometer R2 (see
attached Fig. 2) for 10v AC between A9 J1-E and A9 J1-F (ground).
8. Perform a functional ground check to verify proper operation of
the autopilot system, including NAV/HDG functions.
9. After successful ground check, the customer should perform a
functional flight test of the autopilot with all other systems
operating (those systems which are also connected to the
external 26v 400 Hz power supply). The customer should then
make an entry in the Aircraft Log Book, verifying proper opera-
tion of the modified Computer Amplifier (S/N ---- ) and autopilot
system.

improvements in, its equipment without obligation to install such additions
or improvements in equipment theretofore manufactured.
