The value of Dress by Sheikh Sadi

Sheikh Sadi was a great poet.He used to put on simple dresses.Once the king of Iran invited
him to his palace. The Palace of the king was too far away from his home. So,he started for
the king's palace a day ago.On the way when it was about to go dark,he took shelter in the
house of a nobleman. The nobleman could not recognize him and treated him as an ordinary
man.At that time,he was simple in his dress. He did not disclose his real identity. The
Nobleman and his servants did not show much honour and hospitality to him for his ordinary
dress. They entertained him with very poor food.

In the morning, the poet left the rich man's house. He reached the king's palace. The king
Showed much honour to him and gave him some beautiful dresses.

A few days later,on his way back home.He took shelter again in the same house. This time
he was in a gorgeous/beautiful dress offered by the king. The nobleman received him very
cordially and entertained him with rich and delicious food.Sheikh Sadi understood the reason
why he was treated so nicely. So,he decided to teach the nobleman a good lesson. When He
sat down to eat, instead of eating the delicious food,he began to put the food into his
pockets. The nobleman as well as his servants was surprised at this. The nobleman asked
politely, "What are you doing Sir?" Saadi replied, “ I'm doing the right thing. Some days ago
when I came to your house in plain dress, nobody cared for my comfort. Now, I'm in a
gorgeous dress and all of you are showing respect to me and serving rich food. I think,it is
not me but my dress which has earned this food. So,I'm putting them into my pockets.”
Hearing this, the nobleman understood his fault. He was very much ashamed and begged
Saadi's pardon.

Moral of the story is Don't judge people by their appearance. True worth lies in one's
character, not

The Hare and the Tortoise

Once upon a time, a hare and a tortoise lived in a forest. The hare was very proud of his
speed and often made fun of the tortoise for being slow. Every day, he laughed at the
tortoise and said, "You are so slow! You will never win in life." The tortoise felt hurt, but he
remained calm. One day, the hare teased him more than ever before, and the tortoise
became very angry. So, he challenged the hare to a race.
The hare laughed loudly and said, "A race with you? That would be a waste of my time! You
will never win," The tortoise smiled and replied, "Don't be so proud, my friend. Let's see who
wins." The hare agreed and decided that the race would take place the next morning. They
chose a long road in the forest and marked a finishing line.

The next morning, both of them arrived on time. As soon as the race started, the hare ran
very fast. Within moments, he was far ahead, and the tortoise was left far behind. The
tortoise kept walking slowly but steadily . After running for a while, the hare felt tired. He
stopped near a big tree to rest and looked back. The tortoise was nowhere to be seen. The
hare thought, "He is so slow. It will take him hours to reach here. I should take a little nap” .
So, he lay under the tree and soon fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile, the tortoise continued walking step by step. When he reached the tree, he saw
the hare sleeping and snoring. The tortoise saw this as a great chance. Though he was tired,
he increased his speed as much as he could. Slowly but steadily, he moved forward.

After some time, the hare suddenly woke up and looked ahead. To his shock, he saw that
the tortoise was almost at the finishing line! The hare ran as fast as he could, but it was too
late. Just before he could reach, the tortoise crossed the finishing line and won the race!

The hare was ashamed, and he never made fun of the tortoise again. He learned a great
lesson-speed alone cannot guarantee success. Patience, hard work , and determination are
more important to win in life. Moral: Slow and steady wins the race. Hard work and patience
are the keys to success.

never worried about tomorrow. His joy was found in honest labour, peaceful sleep and the
beauty of the present moment. One day a wealthy merchant visited the village.Dressed in

without fear and live without greed. What more does a man need?” The merchant, struck by
