Department of ECE

Subject: INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRY 4.0 AND INDUSTRIAL INTERNET

OF THINGS (22EC819)
Year: III-ECE Department Elective
Sections: All
Faculty Name: Dr. P.J. Reginald

Module Bank-I

1. a) Enumerate various sensors used in IoT/Industrial IOT

b) Analyze how Drift effects the measurement of Temperature in Industries
c) Design an IoT system with NodeMcu to monitor the temperature of an Industry
where the system should maintain an average temperature of 24 degrees to prevent the
damage of instruments. Note: In any case if average temperature is not maintained
JIDOKA process should be incorporated to the system

2. a) Compare Static and Dynamic characteristics of Sensor

b) IOT system should be self-adopting and self-configuring. Do you agree? If so justify
c) Design a forest fire control mechanism with appropriate sensors and controller. Give the
level and flow diagram.

3. a) Illustrate IoT device and outline a strategy for firmware updates and maintenance of
Zigbee-enabled devices within the Industrial automation system.
b) Analyze Z wave and Zigbee modules with respect to automation system
c) Design a fire detection mechanism in large scale industry with appropriate sensors and
microcontroller. Give the flow diagram and schematic sketch for the above system.

4. a) Enumerate the benefits of using MQTT in the context of IIOT and show how it simplifies
the development and maintenance of the smart home system

Dr PJR
b) Design a system architecture using MQTT for smart home automation scenario.
Include the following components:
Smart Lights (MQTT clients)
Temperature Sensors (MQTT clients)
Central Control Hub (MQTT broker)
c) Analyze how the devices above would communicate with each other, the topics they
would subscribe to or publish, and any additional considerations for ensuring reliable and
efficient communication.
.

5. a) Compare various wireless technologies suited for CPS

b) Analyze the Integration of Industrial IoT 4.0 and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) in an
Industrial Setting.
c) Design the architecture of CPS for smart health care monitoring system with Node Mcu

6. a) Identify and explain the essential components of an SDN architecture. How do these
components facilitate centralized network control and programmability?
b) Analyze the role of orchestration and automation in the context of SDN and NFV. How
do these technologies streamline the deployment and management of network services?
c) What is the percentage reduction in network provisioning time achieved by

implementing a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solution, given that traditional

methods require an average of 48 hours for provisioning, while SDN reduces it to

an average of 12 hours?"

7. a) List various sensors and protocols suited for Agriculture monitoring system
b) Analyze the necessity of smart sensor node comparing functions and architecture
c) Design a Arduino based smart agricultural system for the LARA Agriculture land of
VFSTR near Chebrolu to automatically spray water on the regular intervals and the
system should monitor the moisture level of the ground and release the water. The moisture
threshold can be fixed appropriately. Identify the IoT level for the above and sketch the same.
Classify the sensors that can be used for the system

Dr PJR
8. a) Illustrate XMPP architecture?
b) Create an IoT-based smart parking system using ultrasonic sensors to detect and monitor
the availability of parking spaces in real time?
c) Design an algorithm to measures the distance to an object using the ultrasonic sensor

and then displays the distance on the Serial Monitor. Make sure to connect the
ultrasonic sensor correctly to your Arduino board.

9. a) Outline the diverse range of sensors employed in IoT applications. Provide an overview
of at least three different types of sensors, highlighting their functionalities, applications,
and how they contribute to enhancing the capabilities of IoT devices. Additionally, discuss
the challenges associated with sensor integration in IoT systems and propose potential
solutions to address these challenges
b) Design an Arduino program for a traffic light system with pedestrian crossing, and create
a corresponding flow chart illustrating the sequential operation of the traffic lights. Explain
how the program ensures smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Consider factors such
as timing, transitions, and any additional features that enhance the functionality of the
traffic light system
c) Is Information model required for the above systems? if so why? justify

10 a) Compare and contrast the Node MCU and Arduino boards in the context of IoT
development. Discuss the key features, advantages, and disadvantages of each platform.
Additionally, elaborate on various pins and their uses with diagram and situations or
projects where one board might be more suitable than the other. Consider factors such as
programming languages, connectivity options, and community support in your analysis
b) Analyze the features of IoT based Machine Diagnosis and Prognosis
