D.3. Configuring DCN over VLAN

The packet radio network consists of two networks: the traffic network and the DCN. The traffic
network handles the data transmission between, for example, radio base stations in the mobile
access network. The external DCN provides IP-based transport of operation and maintenance
data between management systems and MINI-LINK equipment. The packet radio provides an
IP-based DCN for transport of its O&M data. The DCN is carried in-band on the optical fiber or
the Radio Link on a separate VLAN. This VLAN is terminated in the packet radio.

D.3.1 Configuring DCN using Node GUI

D.4. Configuring VLAN in The Packet Radio as Customer Bridge

When the packet radio is used as a customer bridge, NE1 and NE2 in Figure 13 sends either
untagged traffic or C-tagged traffic. The LAN ports connected to NE1 and NE2 must be
configured as CNP, while the WAN ports must be configured as PNP, as shown in Figure 13.
The Ethertype of all ports must be set to the hexadecimal value 0x8100. The PVID on the ports
connected to NE1 and NE2 must be set to the same value.
The packet radio handles traffic in the direction from CNP to PNP according to the following:
 Untagged traffic is tagged with the PVID and C-tag.
 C-tagged traffic is forwarded unchanged.
The packet radio handles traffic in the direction from PNP to CNP according to the following:
 If the Ethertype and the VID of the traffic matches the Ethertype and PVID on the
CNP, the tag is removed and the traffic is forwarded untagged.
 C-tagged traffic is forwarded unchanged.

D.5. Configuring Quality of Service (QoS)

Quality of Service (QoS) is a set of mechanisms that makes it possible to prioritize Ethernet
frames depending on traffic type, and to make sure that the capacity is sufficient to guarantee a
congestion-free network. QoS is an alternative to overprovisioning the network.

 //Set the customer priority classification, the priority classification to PCP (dot1p):
config slot 1 lan 1 2 priority dot1p
config slot 1 lan 1 2 priority-config priority-map 0 mapped 3
config slot 1 lan 1 2 priority-config priority-map 3 mapped 2
config slot 1 lan 1 2 priority-config priority-map 6 mapped 7

 //Change the mapping of DSCP to operator priority:

config slot 1 lan 1 2 priority ipv4dscp
config slot 1 lan 1 2 dscp-config dscp-decode 7 priority 1
config slot 1 lan 1 2 dscp-config dscp-decode 15 priority 2
config slot 1 lan 1 2 dscp-config dscp-decode 54 priority 7
config slot 1 lan 1 2 dscp-config dscp-decode 55 priority 7

 //Change the mapping of MPLS to operator priority:

config slot 1 lan 1 2 priority mplsexp
config slot 1 lan 1 2 mpls-exp-config mpls-exp-decode 0 priority 3
config slot 1 lan 1 2 mpls-exp-config mpls-exp-decode 1 priority 4
config slot 1 lan 1 2 mpls-exp-config mpls-exp-decode 5 priority 7

 //Set the default priority:

E. Requesting and Installing Licenses

License Request Files (LRFs) can be used to request licenses. Licenses for features are distributed
in a License Key File (LKF), which is stored on the RMM. Features for the packet radio are only
enabled if a corresponding license is available on the inserted RMM or if the packet radio is in an
unlock period. To upgrade the licenses, new licenses must be uploaded to an SFTP or SSH server.
The license key installation, which copies the LKF from the SFTP or SSH server to the packet radio,
can be made both locally and remotely, without disturbing the traffic.

E.1. Requesting Licenses using Node GUI

This section describes how to use the Node GUI to generate LRF (License Request File).
 Log on to the Node GUI. The Status page opens.
 Click License Management in the menu to the left.
 Use the + and - buttons to select the number of licenses to request.
 Click Generate LRF. A save dialog box opens.
 Browse to the desired location and click Save to save the LRF.
