Introduction of Internet

 The Internet is a global network of interconnected computers that

enables the sharing of information and resources.

 It evolved from research projects funded by the U.S. government in the

late 20th century, specifically the ARPANET, which was developed by the
Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of the U.S. Department of
Defense.
Key Components

• TCP/IP Protocols: Foundation for data

exchange.
• Domain Name System (DNS): Converts domain
names to IP addresses.
• Web Browsers: Software for accessing the
World Wide Web.
• Routers and Switches: Hardware for directing
internet traffic.
Key Features and Impact:
• Communication: The Internet revolutionized communication through
email, instant messaging, and social media platforms.
• Information Access: It provides access to vast amounts of information
through search engines, online libraries, and educational resources.
• Ecommerce: Online shopping and banking have transformed the way
people conduct business and manage their finances.
• Entertainment: Streaming services, online gaming, and digital content
platforms have changed how people consume entertainment.

other multimedia files) on the World Wide Web.
 HTTP is an application protocol that runs on top of the TCP/IP
suite of protocols (the foundation protocols for the Internet).
(HTTPS stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure)
 FTP (File Transfer Protocol) : used to transfer files between a
computer (client) and a server over the Internet.
 IP ( Internet Protocol) :Set of rules that govern how data is sent
and received
Impact on Society

• Education: Online learning, research tools, digital

classrooms.
• Business: Remote work, cloud computing, global markets.
• Social Interaction: Social media, online communities,
virtual events.
• Healthcare: Telemedicine, electronic health records,
health information systems.
Challenges
• Security: Cybersecurity threats, data breaches,
malware.
• Privacy: Data privacy concerns, surveillance,
information misuse.
• Access: Digital divide, unequal access to highspeed
internet.
• Regulation: Net neutrality, intellectual property rights,
online censorship
Future Trends
• 5G and Beyond: Faster internet speeds, improved
connectivity.
• AI and Machine Learning: Enhanced data analysis,
automation.
• Blockchain: Decentralized networks, secure transactions.
• Augmented and Virtual Reality: New forms of
interaction, immersive experiences.
Web Browser

 A web browser is a software application for retrieving,
