Roadmap: Getting a Core Tech Job at Google (EEE Branch MIT Manipal)

GOAL:

Land a hardware/core tech job at top companies like Google, Nvidia, Qualcomm.

Your Status:

- EEE student starting at MIT Manipal (20252029)

- Want to start early and focus on embedded/VLSI/core hardware roles

Semester-Wise Roadmap

Sem 12: Foundation Phase

- Learn C, Python, basics of electronics, math, and circuits

- Join clubs (robotics/electronics)

- Build basic Arduino/Raspberry Pi projects (e.g., smart lights)

- Learn Git, Linux

Sem 34: Skill-Building

- Learn: Digital electronics, embedded systems, MATLAB, Verilog

- Tools: Proteus, KiCad, Simulink

- Do 12 mini-projects

- Start practicing basic LeetCode/DSA

- Start applying for small research internships or part-time online work

Sem 56: Specialization + Internship


- Focus area: VLSI / Embedded / Power Systems

Phase 1 2nd Year:

Phase 2 3rd Year:

- Most top internships are offline, during summer (MayJuly)

Chances of Success:

- High if you follow roadmap, do projects, get internship by Sem 4

- Qualcomm is harder than Bosch but reachable
