Usability

Changes to layout resizing

Resizing of viewing tiles has been substantially
changed: the entire layout is now made larger or
smaller, without any rearrangement of its contents. At
the first step (one click, in most cases), the viewing tile
is enlarged to about half of the screen horizontally and
vertically, and if possible, is centered as well. All other
viewing tiles are enlarged proportionately, partially
protruding beyond the edge of the screen. Clicking
neighboring viewing tiles places them at the center of
the screen. For 2x2 layouts and other layouts in which
a viewing tile already occupies 50% of one side in the
layout, the first step is skipped. At the second step, the
viewing tile is resized to 100% of the screen.

New layouts ribbon

The upper portion of the interface window is now
smaller, with the layouts ribbon occupying a larger part
of it. But most importantly, the ribbon can now be ex-
panded to display all camera layouts simultaneously.
This makes it much easier to find a particular layout,
especially on systems with a large number of them.
The order of layouts in the layouts ribbon can be changed
in editing mode, by simply using drag-and-drop.

More flexible configuration

of layouts
Previously, resizing of viewing tiles in Axxon Next
layouts was dependent on the number of cells. The
number of cells in a layout could be set by adding any
necessary number of columns and rows. Now viewing
tiles can be resized freely, simply by dragging their
edges with the mouse. This allows creating layouts
with any arrangement of viewing tiles and information
boards. For example, it is easy to create a layout of five
cameras with two cameras in the top row and three
cameras in the bottom row, with all cameras in a row
occupying viewing tiles of equal size.

8 Experience the Next

New alarms panel

A new alarms panel will be displayed as a tab in the interface.

The panel opens downwards, occupying a vertical strip on the
screen. It can also be maximized to full screen; the size of the
alarms panel can be saved for each layout individually. The alarms
panel displays video thumbnails of recent alarms that require op-
erator attention. One advantage of the new panel is that it can
be resized depending on the number of alarms to be displayed.
The size of the video thumbnails is adjusted based on the size of
the alarms panel. When the panel is opened in full-screen mode,
thumbnails can be resized with the help of a special slider. If some
of the thumbnails do not fit on the screen, vertical scroll bars are
displayed on the alarms panel.
In addition to pending alarms, the alarms panel also allows
viewing previous alarms that have already been handled or
missed. The types of events to display in the panel can be set with
a filter. These types include any or all of the following types: False
alarm, Non-critical, Critical, and Missed. Clicking the video thumb-
nail for an alarm recording highlights the corresponding camera
in the layout.

OnScreen
PTZ mode
OnScreen PTZ mode makes it easy
to control PTZ cameras, by simply
moving the mouse in the viewing tile.
A small plus sign is shown at the cent-
er of the video. Dragging this «plus
sign» moves the camera’s view, with
the speed of camera movement de-
pendent on the speed of the mouse.
To zoom in or out, use the scroll con-
trol on the left side of the viewing tile.

New archive creation wizard

This wizard allows creating and configuring archives for storage of recorded video. Click the archive creation button for
a server to run the archive creation wizard, which consists of two parts: a list of available disks and a list of available cam-
eras. After selecting the disks on which you want to host the archive partitions, you can set the partition sizes on each disk
by using a slider. You can also choose to dedicate the whole disk for archive storage by enabling AxxonSoft’s proprietary
SolidStore file system on the disk to eliminate the risks of fragmentation, slow access and data loss. Archives can be created
on the existing partitions of a disk: the Format option determines whether the existing data will be preserved.
In the list of cameras, select the cameras from which video will be recorded to the archive. You can select the options
for downsampling, pre-alarm recording, and video stream configuration. Select the recording type: never, always, by
operator command (including alarm recording), or by schedule. Schedules are shown immediately during configuration,
making the process quicker and easier. To ease configuration yet more, group settings can be applied for associating
cameras with the archive.

without leaving immersion mode.

Functionality
Multidomain monitoring
Multidomain monitoring lets clients connect to multiple servers on different domains. A single workstation can now
view video from cameras on independent video surveillance systems simultaneously, as well as configure these systems.
All cameras and settings can be browsed in a single window.

VideoWall 2.0 for video wall management

on distributed configurations
The VideoWall function allows selecting a layout that has been created in the system and sending it to the monitor of
any client computer that is part of the same distributed video surveillance system. This is especially useful for monitoring
hubs and for multilevel video monitoring, as well as configuring and maintaining large video walls. Sharing a layout with
an operator allows drawing that person’s attention to an event captured by one of the cameras in the layout. Similarly, an
event can be shown to all operators by sending video from the relevant camera to a video wall.

Metadata from IP devices

Some IP devices (IP cameras and IP video servers) can calculate and send metadata about in-frame object motion
to video servers. Metadata can be used to support scene analytics tools in Axxon Next, for determining when a virtual
line has been crossed, motion has occurred in a selected area, and the like. In addition, this information can be used
to index recorded video, which is helpful for criteria-based smart searching of recorded video with MomentQuest2.
On-camera video processing avoids the need to perform resource-intensive video decompression on the server. The
CPU burden on the video server is significantly reduced, which allows the server to handle more video streams with
use of video analytics tools.

Panoramic views for cameras

with ImmerVision lenses
Panoramic views are now supported for
cameras that have ImmerVision lenses. The
distorted image received from the camera
is dewarped (unfolded) into a horizontal
360-degree panorama, of which a portion is
displayed in the viewing tile. The video in the
viewing tile can be scrolled left and right, in
order to view any portion of the panorama.
Panoramic images are especially convenient
for surveillance of large sites.

13
Functionality
Tag&Track Pro
The Tag&Track Pro feature allows simultaneously getting the «big picture» of everything happening at a protected
site while obtaining detailed imagery of the objects moving around it. Both streams can be recorded for later use, which
is important for event investigation.

The feature requires at least two cameras: one is a panoramic camera, the second one a PTZ camera. Object tracking
is enabled on the panoramic camera, so objects moving in the frame are detected and their coordinates are calculated.
The position of the PTZ camera (its pan, tilt, and zoom values) is aligned to the coordinates of the panoramic camera’s
field of view at six or more points. Several panoramic cameras can be linked with a single PTZ unit.

Tag&Track Pro offers three modes: In manual mode, the user selects an object in the field of view of the panoramic
camera by clicking the mouse. The object’s coordinates in the field of view are mathematically converted into the pan/
tilt/zoom values necessary for the PTZ camera to track that object. This continues until the object leaves the field of view
or the user selects another object. In automatic mode, the PTZ camera switches between objects in the frame without
human intervention, tracking each of them for a pre-configured length of them. The third mode, automatic with user
priority, works similarly to automatic mode until the user clicks an object with the mouse, which activates manual mode.
Automatic mode is re-enabled when the object is de-selected or the object leaves the field of view.

Tag&Track Light
A new tool for multi-camera tracking, Tag&Track Light makes monitoring easier by predicting the camera in front
of which an object will appear after it leaves the field of view of another camera. For this feature to work, all cameras
are linked to a site map: the position of the cameras and their fields of view are specified on the map. The operator
selects a moving object to track. If the object leaves the field of view of one camera, Axxon Next calculates its trajec-
tory and determines the camera in front of which the object will appear next. This camera is visually highlighted in the
current layout.

Monitoring of
POS transactions
Axxon Next will gain support for cash regis-
ters, which will allow systems for monitoring of
checkout transactions. Events and receipt text are
sent from cash registers to a special pane associ-
ated with the camera that is pointed at the cash
register. This information can also be displayed as
captions on surveillance video. Such high-context
information awareness offers increased opportu-
nities for monitoring checkout events and iden-
tifying fraudulent transactions that are hard to
spot with video alone. The text of video captions
can be searched for analysis and event investiga-
tion. For example, all video footage for a specific
product type, transaction, or cashier name can be
found instantly.

Face capture and license plate recognition

Axxon Next will soon allow recording when faces appear in a frame, as well as their location. This data is calculated on
the server or directly on the camera, in the case of cameras with on-board face recognition capabilities. Appearance of
faces in a frame is a special surveillance event; this means that recorded video can be searched for all episodes in which
a face is present.

Axxon Next will also implement support for recognizing license plate numbers and searching recorded video based
on them. It will be possible to search video both by license plate recognition (situations when any license plate is pre-
sent) and by specific license plate numbers.

Reaching the maximum:
Leading security and IT companies combine
their best technologies

The security market today is a bewildering array of offerings, a hodgepodge of

products and solutions. To find the optimal choice and design the best-suited
solution, technical staff need full and complete information about available
products and solutions. More importantly, they know that the “proof is in the pud-
ding”: the best proof of marketing promises is found in real-world installations.
In response to these requirements, industry leaders are working together to offer
joint solutions that are fully customized to the needs of each business.
This is why AxxonSoft has partnered with leading security and IT companies to
launch the company’s program for technology partnership.

Understanding and coordination are critical: only integrated, joint solutions from the
industry’s best can have the greatest success. No single company can have the market all to
itself, for the products of a single company cannot meet all market needs.
A company may have a breakthrough technology, but it is difficult to offer the client a
truly effective solution in the absence of an overall integrated approach to market needs.
“Effective” means a solution that is optimal from the point of view of reliability and price,
and above all, is easy to integrate.
We – AxxonSoft and its technology partners – know that every well-executed solution is
the product of hard work by at least two developers.
Our partners are companies with an enduring reputation on the market and proven
technologies, and who share AxxonSoft’s values and mission. A number of successful joint
projects under the partnership have already come to fruition in different areas of the public
and private sectors. These including banking, oil and gas, energy, retail, transport, industry,
Safe City projects, and more. Successful implementation of even the most complicated pro-
jects inspires us and instills confidence that the program will continue to offer significant
benefits.

Mudo is a leading Turkish retailer, offering clothing, accessories,
furniture and home decoration products at 120 locations throughout
Turkey. The Mudo brand includes Mudo Collection, Mudo Concept, Mudo
Accessoires and Mudo Outlet. Under the guidance of its founder, Mustafa
Taviloğlu, Mudo has grown from its launch in 1964 as a small gift shop to
become a major brand in today’s Turkish retail marketplace.
A longtime proponent of AxxonSoft software, global partner Axis
Communications has deployed 1,920 cameras in 120 Mudo stores around
Turkey, cementing both companies’ active role on the Turkish security mar-
ket with this challenging and well-implemented project.
The features of the Axxon Next VMS empower Mudo to handle security
management elegantly and reliably, with outstanding video analytic and
mobile capabilities. Now every Mudo store manager can view live and re-
corded HQ video from the store on an iPhone, iPad or any Android device,
even when traveling abroad. The touchscreen interface allows even non-
IT staff to easily operate the VMS. Mudo has approved further extension of
the project to new stores as they are built, marking a long-term relationship
that has already brought significant results.

Dynamic Parcel Distribution (DPD), an international express courier

service, has installed and continues to successfully use an Intellect-
powered security system to protect the company’s storage areas.
As a leading express carrier of packages and cargo, DPD provides thou-
sands of clients with comprehensive transport and logistics services using
its unique delivery networks, which cover 7,000 destination pairs in Russia
and other countries around the world.
Warehouses occupy a key spot in the cargo > warehouse > client flow,
since the integrity of the cargo at the warehouse and smart placement af-
fect both delivery times and the condition of the cargo on delivery.
The client expressed its desire to set up video surveillance of its ware-
house facility, which is used for sorting and temporary storage of cargo.
Surveillance needed to have exceptionally high image quality, in order to
track cargo movements as well as record any cases of product resorting or
disappearance.
The Intellect PSIM was chosen as the software platform for live monitor-
ing and management of recorded video at the site – and for good reason.

In March 2013, installation of a security and video management
system was completed at a Russian factory of Oriflame, a leading man-
ufacturer of cosmetics in Russia and around the world.
Oriflame Cosmetics S.A. is a Swedish cosmetics company and a premier
world manufacturer of cosmetic products, perfumes, beauty products, jew-
elry, and accessories.
The first task was to develop a solution to protect the Oriflame ware-
house complex, taking into account the needs of the consignment storage
area. So it was critical that the system and its hardware not only be vandal-
proof, but also offer split-second reactions to alarms and full video monitor-
ing of the warehouse site.
The second task was to install the video surveillance system at an office
building and adjacent spaces.
This is why the Intellect PSIM from AxxonSoft was chosen: built to power
multifunctional security systems of all scales and levels of complexity at far-
flung sites, the flexible software allows installing a large number of servers
and setting up the necessary number of remote workstations for monitoring.
At this stage, the site was equipped with nine servers and two monitoring

Vnukovo International Airport, near Moscow, is one of the busiest

transport hubs in Russia.
Vnukovo’s active growth, modernization, and new terminal construc-
tion caught the eye of Regstaer, one of Russia’s leading duty-free operators.
Regstaer stores offer a full range of duty-free products: alcohol, perfumes
and cosmetics, jewelry, tobacco products, candy, clothes, accessories,
watches, and travel products.
The security system for such a store needed to meet special require-
ments, preserving the integrity of expensive products without intruding on
the store’s design and feel. Visitors have to feel comfortable and relaxed in
the store, without feeling subjected to obtrusive surveillance. A the same
time, stores with exclusive accessories require alarm systems for showcases.
Security needed to be invisible yet easy to operate.
It was also necessary to put IP video surveillance systems in five new
stores and three existing ones, in terminals A and B, the VIP area, and the

Axxon Next is being used to power video surveillance in the city
of Rio Gallegos, located in the province of Santa Cruz on the southern
coast of Argentina.
The «heart» of surveillance is the situation center in Rio Gallegos, which
is the hub for all alarm information received from emergency calls to the
police. The situation center is built on the Axxon Next VMS.
Safe City surveillance in Rio Gallegos uses hardware from VisionxIP: two
servers and 56 cameras, of which 45 are Вullet VXIP N6071 models and 11
are PTZ VXIP H2100 models.
Rio Gallegos has suffered from a crime wave in recent years, which has
caused anxiety for the city’s residents. Thus it was proposed to install sur-
veillance cameras and set up a situation center for quickly processing and
reacting to alarms. The Santa Cruz government approved the project for
Axxon Next-based surveillance – and the results have already surpassed
expectations.
Operators need minimal training time, thanks to the intuitive Axxon

Retailers, and especially large chains with high visibility and traffic
flows, are particularly sensitive to security issues. That is why SPAR
Österreichische Warenhandels AG, which manages the chain’s Austrian
stores, took a very serious attitude when looking at development and de-
ployment of a new CCTV system and selecting the software for it.
AxxonSoft has a reliable Austrian partner, AlbiControl, which is a dis-
tributor of security equipment. AlbiControl recommended that SPAR lead-
ership pick Intellect Lite because of its status as the most multifunctional,
reliable, and smart software for security systems today.
The client opted for Intellect Lite, which is a simplified version of the
Intellect PSIM stripped of additional features and modules. Intellect Lite
completely met the client’s needs, with lower purchase and support outlays
than for the full version of Intellect Enterprise, its «big brother».
Based on Intellect Lite, the video surveillance system supports four
