Summary
Currently, as Senior Vice President & Group Chief Security & Intelligence Officer at Vedanta, I am part of the Group
Executive Committee and the Group CSR Committee. I lead human rights compliance in security and management of
corporate security and intelligence. My role encompasses a strategic overhaul of security systems, intelligence, and
vigilance to provide a fortified defense against risks. I work closely with business leaders to strengthen business
continuity, protect value, and enable responsible growth across mining, metals, oil & gas, and infrastructure sectors.
Our team's mission is to enhance business resilience through enterprise-wide transformation, ensuring operational
continuity and competitive edge in the natural resources sector. By spearheading the integration of physical security
with IT, we've created a robust framework for disaster management and business continuity, tailored to the unique
challenges of our diverse conglomerate. This holistic approach leverages analytical skills and risk assessment to
fortify our assets and promote a culture of preparedness across the organization. A strategic leader in corporate
security, risk, and intelligence with over three decades of experience across government, military, and corporate
sectors. I specialize in aligning security and risk management with business strategy, ESG priorities, and stakeholder
trust. I actively contribute to the profession through volunteering leadership roles. In the past, I served as Vice
President of Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA), Bengaluru, fostering industry collaboration, security, and
community engagement. I am presently the President of the International Institute of Security and Safety
Management (IISSM), a not-for-profit body dedicated to advancing security and risk management practices.
Additionally, I serve on the Governing Body of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), a Central University under the
Ministry of Home Affairs, contributing to national security education and research. I believe effective security
leadership is about safeguarding people, protecting assets, preserving purpose, earning trust, enabling resilience
and creating long-term value for businesses and society.

"ITES Industry: The Big battle for security and Safety".
Security Today

Safety". The story covers the following areas. Drivers for Data Security, Information Security Governance, Challenges
from Extended Boundaries, Internal Processes, Employee Safety, Security Issues, Health Issues and Work Pressure
and stress. I and a few other security experts and consultants have participated in this deliberation which has been
covered in the story. Happy Reading.
Community Policing Experiment- Partnership of Tata Steel with Police
Defence Security Alert
Acclimatisation to security solutions in form of patrolling needed community support. An effort was made by Tata
Steel to engage many persons of the community in the beat as possible for generating support and developing
interest for sharing timely information on any suspicious activity. This collaborated effort had an impact in
prevention of criminal activities. The effort has helped in discouraging miscreants. Being conspicuous and having
created high visibility garnered positive results. The partnership patrolling teams have been helping in collecting
and disseminating information pertaining to suspicious activities or crime and also reporting the same to the police
control room or police station. The interventions by patrolling teams help swift actions during road accidents orin
the event of any suspicious activity. They also help in engaging with members of the community in curbing crime and
resolving neighbourhood problems. The patrolling has further expanded its scope by forging partnerships with
private security personnel of Tata Steel deployed at various places in proximity to their particular beat in the city for
ensuring timely collection and dissemination of specific information.

Changing Role of Corporate Security Management
IISSM
Increasing incidents of terror, crimes and frauds impacting business especially iconic corporations across the world
leave far reaching geo-political consequences, destruction of tangible and intangible assets, enhanced insurance
premiums, reputational loss etc. Due to such grave risks to the business, there is a paradigm shift in the roles and
responsibilities of the corporate security. Furthermore, Legislations like HSPD-12, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA etc. have
made the Board and top management accountable for non-compliance of statutory provisions. New economic
opportunities in emerging markets throw peculiar security challenges that need to be surveyed and factored for
their smooth management. Due to ever increasing risks corporations now consider spending on security as
investment rather than an unproductive expense. Efficacy of the security is now being measured by its contribution
to the organizational strategic goals. Models of Corporate Security :- Help the Board understand business
intelligence and risks by developing a network of information for competitive advantage Measurement of KPIs of
security functions Lean profile by outsourcing of some of the corporate security functions with benchmarking of its
processes and performance. Pro-active profile with reliance on maximum deterrence, maximum delay and real
time warning through convergence of technology with IT, well-defined business processes, procedures and KPIs
Corporate security will play a pivotal role in the next decade owing to complex risks, much more dependence on
outsourcing for operations and services, improved communication, advanced technologies and sophistication in
commission of crimes and frauds. Corporation esp. MNCs therefore will have no option but to evolve and
implement a robust risk strategy to overcome business risks and challenges.
