A fitness trend is a popular and often new way


to keep fit. A fitness trends can last for one
season for several years.
▪ What fitness trends have you heard off?
▪ Have you ever tried any? If so, which?
▪ Would you try a new fitness trend if you
had the chance? Would it make a
difference if you did not have to buy
anything to try it? Explain your answer.

Making comparison

We are using comparison adjectives followed by “Than “ to comparison two things.


Example:
Diva is taller than all.
Is Zumba more popular than aerobics

To compare thow things that are the same, we often use ‘as …..as’ or ‘just as ….as’

Example:
Pasha is as tall as Farah.
Aerobics is just as popular as Zumba

To say that someone or something is ‘less’, we use ‘not so/as…..as or ‘less……than’


Examples:
Ali is not as tall as David
Jazzercise is less popular than Zumba

To make the comparison stronger or weaker, we can use words and phrases such as ‘much’,
‘a bit’, ‘a lot’, ‘slightly’, ‘a little’, and ‘nowhere as….as’.
Example:
I find aerobics far more tiring than swimming.

WE use superlative adjectives to express the idea of ‘most’ or ‘least’


Example:
Rania is the tallest student in the class
The colour run is the most colourful run in the world

Adverb in sentences

Adverb that tell us how, where or when something happens usually come after the main verb
or at the end of a clause or sentence.

Example
We waited patiently for the class to start
It was raining yesterday, so I stayed inside.

Adverb that tell us how oftern something happens or how certain somehting is usually come
before the main verb.

Example:
I always walk to school
She is probably going to be late

We sometimes use adverbs athe beginning of a sentence to add an opinion or comment


about the whole sentence. These are called ‘sentence adverb’

Example”
Unfortunately, I was late for the class.

Some sentences adverb come at the end of a sentence.


Example:
I don’t like athtletics. I like football, though (=but I like foothball)
I love aerobics, I like running as well (I also like running)

MAKING CORPORATION

With short adverb, such as ‘fast’, ‘hard’, ‘early’, or ‘late’, we add – er to make a comparatice
advertb and -est to make a superlative.
Example:
Jonas arrived later than Andi. Ali arrived latest.

If an advertb has two or more syllbels, we usuallyl use ‘more’ or ‘less’ to make a comparaitve.
We use (the) most or (the) least to make a uperlative.
Example:
Jonas plays football less often than Andi.
All Plays (the) least frequently.

Some adverb have irregular compariative and superlative forms.


Example:
Well better best
Badly worse worst
Far farther/further farthest/furtherst

Fitness trends – now and then

In group, In groups, you're going to compare modern


fitness trends and behaviors with those of your parents or
grandparents. Look at the seven pairs of fitness behaviors
and decide in your group whether they are related to the
modern trans or trans from the past- there is one present
and one past trends in each pair.

past fitness trends or if you prefer the modern trends. While
you are talking, always check that you understand what other members after group are
saying. You can do this by asking questions to check what someone has said using phrases
such as? ‘Do you mean that
….’ And ‘ Are you saying that …..’
