Just-in-Time (JIT) is a strategy where materials and components are delivered exactly
when needed — not earlier, not later.
If MEPL needs 10,000 connectors every Monday to make engine harnesses, then the
supplier delivers them Monday morning, not a week earlier. MEPL uses them immediately
in production.

What is Kanban?
Kanban is a visual system to control the flow of materials and production based on
demand.
Kanban card (physical or digital) is attached to a bin or batch.
When a bin is empty, the card signals: “Produce more” or “Order more.”
In case of a material shortage causing production stoppage, I would first check inventory
and confirm with the vendor for any urgent delivery. If needed, I’d look for alternate
approved materials or local suppliers for a quick fix.
At the same time, I’d inform production and planning teams to adjust the schedule and
avoid wasting labor or machine time.
