Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga (Khandwa District)

 Deity: Lord Shiva.


 Importance: Another of the 12 Jyotirlingas; located on Mandhata island
in the Narmada River.
 Unique Feature: The island itself is in the shape of the sacred symbol
“Om”.
 Associated Temple: Mamleshwar Temple (on the south bank of
Narmada).
 Architecture: Nagara style; multiple shrines around the main temple.

Pitambara Peeth (Datia)

 Deity: Goddess Pitambara (Bagalamukhi, one of the 10 Mahavidyas).


 Importance: Major Shakti Peeth, centre for Tantric practices.
 Established by: Swami Ji Maharaj (20th century).
 Other Shrines: Annapurna temple and Dhumavati temple are also
located here.

Bateshwar Temple Complex (Morena)

 Deities: Shiva and Vishnu.


 Period: 8th–10th century CE (Pratihara dynasty).
 Unique Feature: Cluster of over 200 temples, restored by ASI
archaeologist K.K. Muhammed after destruction by earthquakes and
neglect.

Narmada Temple, Amarkantak (Anuppur)

 Deity: Goddess Narmada.


 Importance: Birthplace of the river Narmada.
 Architecture: Kalachuri-period temples (10th–11th century).
 Other Sites: Kapil Dhara waterfall, ancient Shiva temples, and Sonmuda
(origin of Sone river).

Jata Shankar Temple (Pachmarhi, Narmadapuram)

 Deity: Lord Shiva.


 Location: Inside a cave; natural stalagmites are considered Shivlinga.
 Associated Belief: Cave believed to be refuge of Lord Shiva from demon
Bhasmasur.
Maladevi Temple (Gyaraspur, Vidisha)

 Deity: Goddess (Shakti).


 Period: 9th–10th century CE (Pratihara dynasty).
 Architecture: Perched on a rocky hill; fine sculptures and Nagara style.

Tripura Sundari Temple (Jabalpur/Tripuri)

 Deity: Goddess Tripura Sundari.


 Importance: Shakti Peeth associated with Baghel rulers.
 Style: Classical Shakti temple with tantric significance.

Rajrajeshwar Temple (Maheshwar, Khargone)

 Deity: Lord Shiva.


 Built by: Queen Ahilyabai Holkar (18th century).
 Importance: Located on Narmada ghats; Maheshwar town is famous for
temples and Maheshwari sarees.
