Addis Ababa Science and Technology University

1 College: Engineering Department: Chemical Engineering

2 Course Course Core Category Code: (1)
Category
Course Name Computer Aided Process Design and Simulation
Course Code: ChEg5103
3 Synopsis: This course introduces the concept of new design and simulation of existing
chemical processes. It deals with process simulation programs, sequential
modular approach, and equation‐oriented approach. Further, the course focuses
on the interpretation of different process technology, and physical properties
methods including reactor, separation, stream recycling, the concept of energy
integration, and environmental, health, and safety effects. This course
elaborates development of a process flow diagram (PFD) and interprets the PFD
with simulator software tools.
