Psychology Class 12 - Questions and Answers

1. What is Anxiety Disorder?

Anxiety disorder is specifically from a particular or maybe the thing which triggers you. Maybe it's a

situation like excessive fear or anxiety often out of proportion to the situation. Symptoms may

include rapid heart beat, strong shortness of breath, shivering and sweating. This disorder is

specified to pertain triggers like phobia or panic attacks.

2. What is Classical Conditioning?

Classical conditioning is a conditioning where someone has been trained or conditioned in a

particular manner. For example, as in class 11th, we learned that a dog was in a box where the

owner used to ring the bell and give him the food. And same as if I give you a reality example like a

student is doing weight for a bell before the lunch break so that the person can have a lunch break.

This is called classic conditioning.

3. What is Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation?

Extrinsic motivation is a motivation that comes from one's inner self, for example, to study. And

extrinsic is a motivation coming from outside, like from external self, to gain a reward. For example,

if I say to myself that I have to study and then I'll get my favorite thing. Then I am motivating myself

to study, it is internal, and getting a reward is external.

4. What is Phobia and Panic Disorder?

A phobia is a basic fear of something or a worry about for example if someone is having fear when

they get into an elevator, they think that they'll die, they're not able to breathe. It is called

claustrophobia. When someone is having a fear of height, it is agoraphobia, I guess. Panic disorder

is something when we worry or stress about something which comes repetitively. For example, if I

have fear or worry about something, if I keep thinking about it, I'll get panic attacks, which is a panic

disorder.

5. What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

(PTSD)?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is... Obsessive means when you are obsessed with doing one

thing. Compulsive means a repetitive thought of something and then obsession comes of doing this

thing. For example, washing the hands again and again because of the unpleasant repetitive

thoughts which leads to a repetitive behavior. And Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is... For example,

if someone had a bad accident or a bad incident in their life, whenever it comes or they see

something like that, they feel very unpleasant. It's like a trauma to them. For example, if I had a very

bad relationship and whenever I come in a good relationship, I will be fearing of that old thing that

this person will leave me, this person will leave me. That is called Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

And Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is... Getting repetitive thoughts and doing repetitive behavior.

6. What is Stress and how does it affect us?

Stress is the feeling of being overwhelmed or under pressure, often due to external or internal

demands. It can arise from various stressors, such as academic pressure, work, or personal

challenges. When we experience stress, our body reacts with physical and psychological symptoms,

including rapid heartbeat, headaches, or feeling anxious. Stress affects our performance, health,

and relationships. Chronic stress can lead to burnout or anxiety. Stress can also lead to

procrastination, poor focus, and an inability to cope with tasks effectively.
