Part 1: Word Processing & Basic Skills

1. Introduction to Microsoft Word


Microsoft Word is a program used for typing, editing, and saving written work.
Key Skills:
• Typing → Use the keyboard to enter text.
• Saving a Document → File → Save As → Choose location → Type a name → Save
• Printing a Document → File → Print → Select printer → Print
Activity: Type your name, save the file as MyName.docx, and then print it.

2. Formatting Text
Formatting makes your text look neat and attractive.
Common Formatting Options:
• Bold (Ctrl+B)
• Italics (Ctrl+I)
• Underline (Ctrl+U)
• Font Size
• Font Style
Activity: Type 'I love ICT' and format it in Bold, Font size 20, Arial font.

3. Creating Simple Documents


Examples include short stories, poems, and letters.
Activity: Create a short letter to a friend. Save it as MyLetter.docx.

4. Using Paint/Draw
Microsoft Paint is used for drawing and coloring pictures.
Activity: Draw a house and color it. Save as MyHouse.png.
Part 2: Internet & Communication

1. Introduction to the Internet


The Internet is a global network that connects millions of computers. It is used for communication,
education, entertainment, and information.
Activity: Write 3 ways you use the Internet.

2. Safe Browsing Rules (Cyber Safety)


To stay safe online:
• Don’t share personal details
• Avoid strangers online
• Use strong passwords
• Don’t click on unknown links
Activity: Create a 'Do’s & Don’ts' list for safe Internet use.

3. Introduction to Email
Email is electronic mail. It has three parts: To, Subject, and Message Body.
Sample Email:
To: [email protected]
Subject: Thank You
Message: Hello Teacher, I learned about email today. From, [Your Name]
Activity: Write a practice email to your best friend.

4. Using Educational Websites


Examples: Khan Academy, BBC Bitesize, Wikipedia, National Geographic Kids
Activity: Visit an educational site with your teacher and share one fact you found.
Part 3: Introduction to PowerPoint & Multimedia

1. Introduction to PowerPoint
PowerPoint is used to create slideshows. Slides can include text, pictures, and designs.
Activity: Open PowerPoint and create a blank slide.

2. Making Simple Presentations


Presentations can include a title slide, text, and pictures.
Activity: Create 3 slides about your school.

3. Basic Multimedia
PowerPoint allows adding clip art, sounds, and animations.
Activity: Add one clip art picture and one transition effect to your slides.

4. Project Work
Project Title Options: My School or My Family. Include at least 3 slides with text, images, and one
animation or transition.
Activity: Create your project and save it as MyProject.pptx.
