had designed.”
Coen echoes the sentiment of great teamwork. “We had
a strong relationship with the architect. There was frequent,
open communication. We had a good rapport and they relied
on our input.”
“Allegheny Millwork was an absolute pleasure to work with;
a friendly, positive and highly skilled team,” adds Tedder-
Hares. “They were fabulous in detailing the millwork, coming
up with solutions on site and were always one step ahead of
the schedule. Thanks to them we have truly beautiful architec-

At the inception of the

Another millwork detail
that required special atten-
tion involved the linen
cabinets in the bathroom. An
antique pair of louver-over-
panel doors was salvaged,
disassembled, resized than
reassembled for use as thick
doors on the linen cabinet.
The linen cabinets needed
more than these two doors
so new doors were also fab-
ricated and matched in both
texture and finish so all the
doors look like they are 100
years old.

Maple Cabinets
Cabinets in the kitchen

cabinets extend all the way
to the ten-foot high ceiling.
“We installed LED lighting
under the wall cabinets and
inside the corner cabinets,”
Deas reports. “The lighting
comes on when you open the
doors.”
All the cabinets have a

of the open cabinets are

Real Partners
It was truly a delight to
work with the owner on this
project, says Deas. “It is not
very often you have a cus-
tomer who knows what they
want, and has the budget to
obtain it. We are extremely
pleased with the outcome
of the beautiful woodwork
which highlights all the other
elegant elements in the
house – hand-blown glass
lighting, handmade tile in the
shower, antique slate roof
tiles as flooring, a concrete
vanity top, and hand-painted
wallpaper in the back of the
bookcase.”
As Deas sums it up, “there
are certainly facets of this
project that I will probably
never encounter again, but if
we do I know we can handle
them and even exceed the
expectations of the customer.”
Through weekly meet-
ings and consultation with
the millwork company, along
with a few design modifica-
tions, we achieved wonderful
results, says Dixon. “I am par-
ticularly pleased that we were
able to retain the old wood
and the beautiful appear-
ance of the matching wood
as well.”
