Past Tense Irregular Verbs Irregular verbs, like regular verbs, have the same form in all persons

Past Tense Irregular Verbs - Negatives We form past tense negatives of irregular verbs by placing did not before the verb and by changing the verb to its simple form, like regular verbs. The contracted form didnt is generally used. Example: I went -> I did not go -> I didnt go

Change the following sentences from positive to negative: 1. They ate chicken for dinner. 2. You told me about it. 3. He put the books on the table. 4. They stayed in Mexico City. 5. Judy and I saw Eliot yesterday. 6. He planned his work well. 7. The meeting lasted a long time. 8. The book cost 3.95. 9. The woman and her husband worked together. 10.I knew him very well. Past Tense Irregular Verbs - Questions We form past tense questions of irregular verbs by placing did before the subject and by changing the verb to its simple form, like regular verbs. Example: She went home. -> Did she go home? Change the following past tense statements to questions. 1. She lived in Peru for two years. 2. He gave her a lot of presents. 3. They stayed in Europe all summer. 4. She told them all about her trip. 5. You moved here in February. 6. Terry flew to Minneapolis. 7. We went home after you did last night. 8. They came to the party together. 9. Carla and Dave knew each other as children. [Link] worked in that firm for many years. [Link] felt much better after her operation. [Link] meeting began on time. 13.I passed all my examinations. [Link] put him in the advanced class. 15.I gave you my new telephone number. [Link] crowd waited a long time to see the President.
