DIFERENCIAS ENTRE DO/MAKE/TAKE/HAVE/GIVE

HAVE

Aunque generalmente indica posesión (tener) o se usa con los


tiempos compuestos (haber), con el siguiente grupo de
palabras pierde:

● Comidas y bebidas: a meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack,


a cup of tea, a drink, a bite.
● Hablar: a chat, a conversation, a discussion, a talk
● Lavar: a bath, a shower, a wash, a scrub
● Descanso: a break, a holiday, a rest
● Desacuerdo: an argument, a dispute, a fight, a quarrel,
disagreement
● Otros: a look, a listen, a swim.

Ejemplos:
– I always have breakfast before going to work (Siempre desayuno antes de ir a trabajar)
– We need to have a talk (Necesitamos tener una charla)
– She usually has a bath before going to bed (Ella usualmente se baña antes de acostarse)
– I’ll have a rest now. (Descansaré ahora).
– They didn’t have an argument over this. (No tuvieron una discusión sobre esto)

TAKE

Este verbo indica la acción de tomar o agarrar, sin embargo,


con estas palabras cambia.

● Baño o lavado: a bath, a shower, a wash


● Descanso: a break, a holiday, a rest.
● Otros: care, turns, a chance, a/the risk, a decision, the
trouble, photograph, picture.

Ejemplos: – He likes to take photographs in all our events. /Le gusta tomar
fotografías en todos nuestros eventos)
– I will take a quick shower. (Me tomaré una ducha rápida)
– We took turns to watch the baby (Nos turnamos para ver al bebé)

GIVE
DIFERENCIAS ENTRE DO/MAKE/TAKE/HAVE/GIVE

Cuando usamos give con cualquiera de estos sustantivos, la


traducción no será dar o cualquier otro sinónimo:

● Ruidos: a cry, a laugh, a scream, a shout, a whistle


● Expresiones faciales: a smile, a grin, a look, a glance
● Golpe: a kick, a punch, a slap, a push, a knock, a blow
● Muestras de afecto: a hug, a kiss, a stroke
● Dar/ escuchar: some advice, an answer, some information,
an interview, a lecture, some news, a report, a speech, a talk, a
warning

Ejemplos:
– The professor gave a great speech. (El profesor dio un gran discurso)
– The child has given a big smile when he saw the gift. (El niño ha dado una gran
sonrisa cuando vio el regalo).
– Did she give a cry when you scared her? (¿Dio un grito cuando la asustaste?)
– Give me a hug. (Dame un abrazo)

MAKE

Usamos make para el concepto de crear, o [Link] y


sonidos: a comment, an enquiry, a noise, a point, a promise, a
sound, a speech, a suggestion, complaint, confession, a joke,
an observation, an offer, a prediction,
● Planes: arrangements, a choice, a decision, a plan, plans, an
appointment, a date, an attempt, effort, an error, a mistake, a
move, a reservation.
● Otros: believe, chance, difference, amends, an exception,
profit, a fortune, money, friends, a fuss, a mess, impression, a
payment, a point.
HACER COSAS CON LAS MANOS/NO ACTIVIDADES

Ejemplos:
– You have made an unnecessary comment. (Has hecho un comentario
innecesario)
– I should make an appointment with the dentist. (Debería hacer una cita con el
dentista)
DIFERENCIAS ENTRE DO/MAKE/TAKE/HAVE/GIVE

– He made a fortune buying and selling houses. (Hizo una fortuna comprando y
vendiendo casas)
– Go out, and make some new friends. (Sal y haz nuevos amigos)

DO

Usamos Do a menudo para el trabajo, el ejercicio y las


actividades generales, también con verbos terminados en -ing
asociados con actividades, especialmente el trabajo en la casa:
● Actividades/ trabajo: chores, the dishes, the laundry, the
gardening, the washing, the shopping, work, a job, a drawing, a
painting, an exam, homework, paperwork, research, exercise,
an exercise.
● Otros: badly, your best, your worst, good, well, a course,
damage, harm, your duty, someone a favor, your hair, your
nails.

Ejemplos:
– She only does her chores when she wants something from us. (Ella solo hace sus
